Hi ekabplis,
do you mean this picture from 1 year ago? This is actually not fruited at spawn uncased because I wasn't doing it back then.

Side pins only happened for me when the substrate was colonized and consolidated first. Not always of course, maybe 10% of the time where I would have called it problematic. So far putting the substrate into fruiting straight away without a casing has not produced side pins once for me like in this photo.

Interesting... I had side grow when tried your way. Maybe will try again. Have some thoughts why it was.

So I am about to start on my 4th go with Pans. I think not having them in tubs have me messed up a bit. I believe that the reason for failure has been that they have dried out to much. I have two new trays spawn to bulk a week ago and think they should be ready to case soon. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could have a look and tell me what you think of the mycelium and if you would let them go a bit longer.
Edit: the lighting sucks for these pictures it is not showing the surface correctly the entire surface is covered in white wispy mycelium and it almost looks like knots kind of like cubes.

Estero T1 transfers taken to LC and plates. What do you guys think about the sections where biopsies were taken?

I think both of those look ready to case. Good luck this time, hopefully 4th time will be the charm!

Have you tried fruiting@spawn with no casing yet? I just updated the OP of the tub thread. But honestly sometimes I just don't know what is happening. When consolidating first and then case and fruit it works out well mostly and then out of nowhere I get crazy side and bottom pins. Like this:

It drove me nuts and thinking that evaporation is a pinning trigger is total BS . Might just be the culture though or temperature and oxygen levels and what not. I see the effect but can't figure out the cause for this yet. As I said, I have updated the tub thread, have a look and see if that is the way you have tried. I really think that the genetics are playing a big role in this.

I get this same thing in 25% of my shoeboxes and haven't figured it out yet. You are not alone in random spaghetti side pins. Sometimes the side pins are so thick and curly but no meaningful growth occurs on the surface. It has made me wonder if I should be using a liner.

Hello everyone. After over 2 months of agar work, inoculation grains, making first subs for pans I finally got some fruits!! This is TTBVI, first try. I got some bad experience with Pan. Cyan Hawaii LC i bought off the vendor, but work with TTBVI spore print went a lot better. Now I think the things will move forward smoothly but there is so more to learn. I threw out almost 20 grain jars due to various contaminations but finally got some fruits. Should I clone the biggest one or it is better to take print? What causes mycelium bruising? I am trying to create the best environment for them. Thanks in advance and Mush love to You guys! ❤️🍄

The only time I've seen mycelium bruising on BVI was when an aggressive trich was taking root, but I'm sure all the usual factors can cause bruising depending on the genetics that germinated. In general, though,I've never seen air current or moisture cause bruising in any of my BVI grows.

Congrats on your fruits!
Those look a bit small to print - I can't tell if they are still growing or already mature but it seems like they are still young. If so, I would wait until you see spores dropping, before printing them.
Bruising myclium is caused by stress. It can be so many things - not humid enough, too hot, too cold, bacterial infection, possibly fungal infection, bad substrate, not enough FAE.

What size cap is generally big enough to print with pan cyans?

Just want to share my first BVI grow (the TTBVI from Gordo), I've followed his Tek too and bought a tent.
Modified with humidifier from outside, a fan with filter for fresh air intake, and a small heater. All set up with timers, but I did some manual misting too. Actually, only in the morning and in the evening I would drop some water carefully with syringe on the places where there were no pins or it looked a bit dry. But in the following days as the pins grew bigger, I've seen the humidifier was doing good job.
I don't know if it is beginners luck or the BVI's are usually growing that dense? I've put only a small plastic container for the first batch as a test, but this one is filled almost completely with those pans.
Never expected it to get so many, although they are pretty small. Is that the genetics thing? Conditions? Maybe they get bigger in next flushes.
But they are also strong and not fragile as they look.
Anyway, I've noticed some spores dropped, I thought they will grow some more but that's it. It will be harvest time soon.
Here some photos:

BVIs have grown very dense for me, yes. But regardless that is a great first grow!
@mikeybox big enough that you wouldn't get annoyed at how tiny the print is. Otherwise there is no rule. It's less about size and more about whether the cap is dropping spores yet or if you need to leave it on the "vine" so to speak. I think a lot of people don't wait long enough. You should see the highest caps dropping spores on the top of the caps that sit below them.

Does anyone have experience consuming pan cambo Goliath?
I'm curious if they are anywhere as potent as pan cyans.
I ate 1g of pan cyan Jamaica once and had a strong trip with open-eye visuals, which made me thing they must be at least 3x as potent as cubes
I haven't tried my pan cambo Goliath yet, just wondering if they are even in the same ballpark.
