Third attempt at growing pans. Had 5 trays either contaminate or not fruit. Had one tray produce a small patch of the tiniest, skinniest things Iβve ever seen, albeit so cool looking. Then, on my recent attempt, I dialed in my tent, used the knowledge Iβve learned here, and relied on gut feeling β and Iβm finally starting to see pins! Not the best set, but it makes me happy. Growing things is so much fun, and satisfying!

Hi all
Just about to put grain to substrate on first attempt. I'm a little suspicious about one of my jars as the myc doesn't seem to have fully colonized the bottom of the jar and signs of liquid. I'm wondering if this is just because it was too hot at bottom of jar as I am using an aquarium heater to warm the incubator. Rest of the jar seems absolutely fine:

Coming down from 12, not sure if this a sign of contam or just myc piss.
Comparing it to my other jar which looks alot better:

My plan is to fruit these to two different tubs and see what happens, or am I wasting my time with the suspicious jar and just toss it?
Any feedback is much appreciated

This is why you don't use heating mats for your jars Dry grain won't colonize.

Its a tub in tub with bottom tub containing water & aquarium heater. The jars are then elevated from the bottom of the tub they are in. Temp was 80f inside incubation tub. In hindsight, maybe a little warm, especially at the bottom of the jars.
Temp of grow room lucky to see 64f most of time so felt a heater was required.
That being said, noted for next time, thanks

Just put your jars in a box of some sort. Drink cooler for example. Myc growing will generate some heat and they'll keep eachother warm.

Potamoose, to answer your question: As long as you have plenty of bulk and don't mind gambling the time and material to make a shoebox, I would try and spawn that jar. If some of the uncolonized grain stays stuck to the jar, that's a bonus. I would try and keep it out of the bulk.

Been out of town a few days and of course came back just a bit too late for a proper harvest, but still interesting nonetheless. These were both supposed to be BVI clones - one first flush and one second. Like all varieties, BVI does get bigger with subsequent flushes but these look suspiciously like Peace River to me so am wondering if maybe I had a mislabeling issue. The caps on that second tub are enormous.

Right when you start to see a little spore shadow below some of the oldest caps. Some might harvest shortly before that but it's harder to tell with pans than it is cubes.
