Nef, what did you case it with? It's colonizing the shit out of it.

just limed peat, maybe a little above neutral pH she really went gangbusters soon as the casing was applied, before that she looked weak and whispy

That's crazy, I've never seen peat get so heavily colonized like that! I'm looking forward to updates!

The pan cyans I got going did the same to the first casing I did. Re-cased and they pinned within a week but now they got Verticillium/Pseudomonas/Fusarium/something

Hi friends,
For Panaeolus varieties, is working in smaller tubs like 6qt to 32qt preferable, or can you still get good results with the 54qt tubs? I only ask because I grow my cubes out using Bod's unmodified tek using the Sterlite 54qt tubs and have those already; I would have to order new tubs in smaller sizes if they work better for Pans.
Any advice? I don't mind having to buy more tubs if it means better success chances with a new species.
Thanks!
Peace & Light,

Thanks friend. I've already read the Tek and have it bookmarked along with Hindsight's Tek. I know Hindsight works exclusively with 6qts, but Baba's tek doesn't give the volume of those tubs in his tek (they look like 32qt to me).
I was just more curious which size or sizes have brought experienced peers their best results. I'd rather not go back to using automated martha tents as I live in a different home now than when I was using tents, but I could do one unmodified martha in my current home using 6qt trays if that is what's best for Pans. I saw there was one user who posted monotub success with Pans in Baba's thread (Page 3), but again they didn't mention what size tub they were using. Maybe I'm being too granular/anal, but I just want to do a good job with my first 3 varieties.

I have done unmodded 32qt and 54qt, I personally like using the bigger ones over the little ones, though they both work for me. I donβt find any real difference between them so my primary reasoning for liking the bigger ones is because Iβd rather use the smaller ones for different things.

30 liters is ~32 quarts 20 liters is ~21 quarts
You could stuff a full size moni with 2 6 quart shoeboxes if you wanted.

Awesome. Thank you. I like using the larger tubs since I have five years' experience working with them and knowing how to read the internal conditions with them. I work a very intense 9-5 day job so I don't have as many hours in the evenings/weekends as I used to for more dedicated upkeep with my grows.
Thank you very much for your input, Kirkeng!

All my 6qt tubs are fruited in a tent. I've never even tried to fruit them in the box with the lid on. There's a chance that it might work with the right culture but I can't say since I haven't tried it. One time some fruits grew in a shoebox with the lid on it before I had a chance to put it in the tent - but that was only once.

Understood friend. Like I said, I do have a small corner in my bedroom that I could put up a single martha; I just wouldn't be able to ventilate it properly like yours in your Tek. I would have to do manual FAE but I could run a small sonic humidifier in the tent and run a small clip fan on a timer to circulate on a cycle as you mention in the tek.
I'll try both scenarios in my grows this year. I'll use 32qt Sterlites unmodded using Bod's tek, and use your Martha tek using open 6qt trays. Whichever delivers better results in my current living conditions, then I'll carry that method forward.
Thanks again to everyone for their time and input!

Make sure you are going to run a variation of genetic lines and do some cloning if you have the time and space. Searching for good genetics that will do well in the conditions provided is as important as trying different fruiting strategies. Narrowing it down from both ends will give you the best chances for success. This can take some time.

Understood. Yes, I have room and time for agar work and clone selections. Great points, thank you again!

Question for you guys, I am screen sifting some manure I picked up today.
Do you think these little chunks are going to cause issues when I pasteurize substrate? Majority of what I screened/collected is very shredded. I used 1/2 inch screen and these little bits fell through but I'm hoping they will be alright to use?

Yay, that is a nice pin set would be nice if you can manage to get these beefed up a bit.
bigworm was asking about pinning times in the tub thread, can you give some info on your times from spawn to pins to harvest. Can't remember or tell from the photo if you have cased, did you?
