The first flush cincts got away from me. Before I cased them I already had 1/4"- 1/2" pins so let them run first flush uncased, harvested and cased and got nice 2nd and 3rd flushes. I found them very vulnerable to humidity drops, esp. when I would open the GH flap to take pics.
My room RH was 35% at time from a cold, dry front blowing through. When it later began to rain outside, the room RH went up to around 55% and the cincts were easier to bring to maturity in the GH, because pic taking wasn't such a dehydrating affair. Learned to mist the walls upon entry to help offset the drop.
Good luck getting those cappies open

Hi all,
I've been watching this thread for a few months now and I can happily say that after much lurking, my FOAF has successfully completed their first grow from spores and indeed, first non-cube grow. How exciting! Here are some pics of the Pan Cyan (Jam var) results.

Quick question. There appears to be two unique mushrooms that have a far more whitish coloration and a more distinctive bell shape (on the edge of the tray). I was wondering if there is any information to be learned from this. Is it indicative of anything in regards to growing method/environment? Are they a mutant variety of the species? Would they be desirable to clone/print? Could they be a non Pan Cyan contaminant spore?
Just interested to learn more on the matter, any insight would be delightfully appreciated. Thank you so much!
P.S. The second picture is to show the typical colouration.

nice results for an MS grow. i can't say what actually causes those saucer-shaped caps but i have seen them in a couple of other grows so i don't think it's anything to be concerned about. i think it's just a rare set of genetics that only expresses itself once in a while. if i remember correctly blindingleaf had a pan cyan bali grow where all the caps had this shape. and i think i saw a pan tropicalis grow that had them too but i could be wrong.

Thanks so much, I'm reading through blindingleaf's grow log now. We'll see what I learn. Also, as it turns out, the rest of the mature shrooms seem to be adopting the same pale colouration that I referred to earlier. Super fascinating!
Edit: Post read: yeah, those look right.

Anyone see a problem with my pan. Cyan jars? Plans to spawn tonight.. It's grayish and wispy and definitely not the cobweb so they must be right..right?

Correct, they're "roofies" - cronicr thinks they're pan bisporus. Found the original spore source growing in a container of plants outside on a roof. I'd tried to grow bisporus and I've been known to dump things in containers on the roof, so maybe it was grain that got happier outside

so, I gathered a bunch of deer poo and I plan on premixing with grain and sterilizing together to inoculate with agar, I may add some verm to keep it from getting too muddy. should I break up these pellets or leave them whole?

I would leave the poop pellets whole, if you break them up they will get super muddy. I would think if you leave them whole they will act just like rye berries, but who knows maybe try it both ways, see what works best

These are really great for sectoring agar scraping off spores from spore prints and selecting exactly what you want off of agar, found it so much easier to sterilize these and select what I want versus a scalpel I buy them on ebay 3 dollars shipped https://www.ebay.com/itm/232042118808
