Yeah and tbf, it's actually my second attempt growing pans. So I calculated some sort of loss, why I made two trays ^^
I think, and from my feeling, I actually did every step correct (Especially the pasteurization, although there is always room for perfection). Except a "hidden" bacterial infection or also that I didn't tape the fae holes even though I knew about the flies in my apartment...
I have quite low temperatures (20°C-22°C) so I also think this is a reason my pan's are growing a little bit slowly.
But the second tray (top mono) is still looking good and my baby's are slowly getting bigger and noticeable every day. I hope that tray makes it, but I am as always, optimistic

As you guys/girls see, I have them in "waterfilled ez dialed monos" (have so much grows going on, I needed so make smaller but more grows^^ going to spawn them in monos without trays when I have my routine down) with no sorts of heating and I don't want to heat the whole livingroom.
It's not as a good setup like hindsight's martha (going that path some day when I have more space), but I just want to keep it als "low maintenance and low cost" as possible for the moment.
Every critic is very appreciated
Edit: yeah I should take out the smaller trays so the nats have more space upward^^

Sure I have, I started with that way, I am just using trays because of having smaller grow's if something fails ^^

i was having trouble properly pasteurizing my sub and casing, i then bought an instant pot 8qt and using that set on "keep warm" for 10 hours and it allowed me to get a second and third flush from pans. the stove top in jars and water bath method wasnt easy to dial and was inconsistent.

Yeah I am using the Oven-Tek xD But getting it with warm water to fc so the coretemp is already right, and then for 4 hours into the oven at 70°C. I also left it after pasteurizing for about a week in the ziplock bag I pasteurized it in. To see if anything showes up and to let the beneficial microorganisms repopulate a bit (or so the theroy I've heard^^).
I did that with the Sub as well as with the casing.
Sub was 1:1:1 composted cowmpoo, straw, verm (plus a bit gypsum(like maybe ~2 tbs, and lime ~1 tbs per L of sub)
Casing was 1:1 peat, verm, with some lime (I actually just eyeball tbh...^^).
This time I kept the sub slighty under fc and the casing at fc.

That's my bad from yesterday. I thought you had used the same materials for sub and casing, not that they were pasteurized the same way. I blame those dang flies or gnats for the trich. They are nasty vectors of contamination.

Well I can't be sure, so I must assume every step may have had a problem or something. Just going to be a bit more careful next time. And maybe just follow baba's sub, just try it with coir and composted manure. The less contamination risks are there, the more chances of success. Although I like using straw and should use that what's laying around xD

I had always done cubes and never really had any issues until this past summer and I try to be very diligent about pests (being a cannabis guy I'm obsessed with trying to avoid them) but this past summer I was absolutely overwhelmed with the little flying fuckers!!! Along with this line of thinking... would mosquito dunks be safe to start dissolve in the water or would it just make a clusterfuck? Just thinking prevention. I want to get my first actual fruit before I go trying to get jiggy with it. Haha I'm just trying to pick y'alls brains!! Happy hump day you panheads!!! 😎✌️

Fun fact, I still got the Bag with the casing I made for my pans (still has like 2L of unused casing in there), and the casing material doesn't show any sign of contamination or Trich. So I guess that those grains had a hidden bacterial infection which probably has led to the trich contamination. Maybe brought in through a Gnat
I will also let away the straw in my next pan run and do it like Baba does, with just composted manure and coco coir.

My first pan pin. Cyan huasteca RDU.

Not counting the cyan grow that I lost to trich summer of 2021 cause that pinned, fruited and got eaten by trich while I was on vacation so I didn't get to see the little babies

Congrats SirP.
I am with Shrimps and planning to start pans following Baba Ys lead. Thinking I want to start with bvi and bispo. Just wanted to get this tread in my list to easily follow along.

Petering out the pan tubs one by one and all that is left are two Nec-D tubs which I will let go for a third flush.
Nec-D was the best performer over all this season:
Nicest looking tub (Nec-D):

Second flush of the above tub produces the biggest caps this season:

Nec-D tied with Jambo on the tallest fruits but Jambo got the point for fattest fruits of the season.

and lastly Nec-D made for the best novelty performance:

This was a good Pan season and I got a few steps further to figure out those little beasts. Tested new genetics with tubs (thanks to Hindsight and PsiloPsychin), got them growing well in lower temps with big temp swings, got them performing well without a casing, tested out the new substrate prep with success, did some nice pan novelty grows and used unmodified tubs for the first time with success (thanks kirkeng for showcasing them). Now I'm having more questions and things I'd like to check out which will have to wait till next time.

Wow they look gorgeous! My little Nec-D's are showing more and more pins since the weekend. But they are moving soooo slowly >.< not sure if it's the cold temperaturs
But since my one tray got infected, I will continue with your way of prepping the sub. Cut down on the contam risks.
Btw. what questions do you have now after all the things you tested out?
