Ah ok I got you. Yeah I don't mess with G2G.... had some bad experiences so have just avoided it. I know it can work great but I'm superstitious now lol.

I feel that Iโm the same way but with liquid culture, avoid it like the plague now.

Haha I was the same way but recently decided to delve back into it and am actually loving it. Playing around with it has taught that a few things I see on agar plates are actually contamination. Also SSLC is > than LC by a lot. And I love the 8-10 day colonization time of quart grain jars injected with 10cc of SSLC. My current methodology is to germinate spores on agar, then take several small transfers of different clean areas that look nice and put those right to SSLC. Let the LC colonize for around 8-10 days and then put the LC to some grain jars, then grow out as normal from there (grain to substrate mix) and look for clones. It has been working really nicely.

Pan bisporus T1 looking a lil whispy, but otherwise healthy to my untrained eye. First Pan grow. Think my nute levels are a little whack, but Iโm excited anyway.

Looks like light nutes but that is what I like. Regular agar formula has too much and the mycelium gets too dense. I run GWA exclusively for that reason. That plate looks great to me.

Thanks Hindsight, coming from you, that gives me great confidence. It is GWA actually, from WBS simmer water, diluted to about 40%.
Some day Iโll dig my old brewing hydrometer and start attempting to calculate my GWA nute density, try to be a little more consistent. But other cultures on plates poured from this batch all look pretty good too, so for now Iโm just gonna run with it.

Ah ok - yeah I run my GWA at 30% grain water and 70% filtered water. I love it. Makes it very easy to see what is going on.

I've been copying this almost exactly, and so far everything has been very wispy on it, including Pan Bisporus; Pan Cyan; Ps. Mexicana; even Pearl Oyster is super wispy. I wasn't used to the mycelium looking that thin, so I had some concerns until getting some Peace River to grain, now it's the best looking Peace River I've ever had on grain.
Your confirmation also gives me some confidence that I'm doing something right!
Egon, my bisporus looks very similar on agar right now, so I'm excited for both of us!

Should work the same as cow/horse, don't see any big difference there.

One or two growers had success with it WAY back in this thread IIRC.

Awesome to see some grain water love here. I typically run diluted by eye. I'm comparing full strength, 50% and eyeballed. Wish it was a pan, but it was an outdoor cyan.

I have a question about agar work. This transfer colonized the plate normally in about 10 days but then after a while these white areas form. Are those contaminants? or is it normal for the mycelium to create those areas?
thx in advance...

That's pretty common with pans. I wouldn't worry. Maybe someone could chime in with an explanation? I always thought it a kind of overlay

Was my primary poo for a few years. Bit of a pain in the ass due to small turd size.
