Nice Myc! Looking forward to see more.

Having a run in with bad coir over here, stuff started molding in an unopened cooler 5 days after hydrating with boiling H2O. The last tubs I made with this coir are refusing to develop knots. Bought my old brand and hope this will resolve the issues I had with the last 4-5 tubs.

The little desktop bonsai pans are calming me down.

A cross post but something that can't be promoted enough.

Use water agar for cloning. This unwashed dirty pin was dropped to water agar 5 days ago and had no issues with bacteria.

I've only heard good things about Wild Coast. Some of you made it sound even better than my Bunnell (ease of growing, potency, MASSIVE fruits).

Cool experiment, Baba. I myself often forget water agar even exists, lol. I've used it before but probably not for anything super useful

My first ever plates I made were water agar cause I didn't realize that I was supposed to put nutrients in as well.

Everything came together once I found the shroomery.

Loving the bonsai pans!

Yeah seems like a good idea to have some water agar around purely for clones or bacterial cultures!

Alright well it was either bisporus or a "domesticated" cyan I was gonna start. Cyan it is then. Recently gave up on my culture started from wild spores, I'm not throughly convinced of what I suspected all along... Bacteria interlaced all through the myc, just kept getting worse with each transfer.

So, Estero put to fruiting.

Here’s the automated schedule so far.

Mister and bathroom exhaust fan run for 2 minutes. Once the humidity gets over 90%, the β€œnew air” fan kicks on at the lowest setting. Currently I have it set to take the humidity back down to 75%. It takes about 7 minutes to do this.

So 2 minutes misting and evacuating CO2, 20 minutes resting and during the rest period, the β€œfresh air” fan is running about 7 of those 20 minutes. I can not stress how lightly the fan is blowing. Lowest setting PLUS a HEPA inlet filter.

Appreciate all thoughts and feedback.

Thanks to Hindsight and Baba for the implemented info so far.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to properly age horse manure?  I managed to find a decent source for horse manure that is only a couple months old.  I had to bag it up to bring it home, so its currently inside large plastic garbage bags on the side of my house.  It certainly looks like it will work well with for cyans, these antillarums were right at home.  When I pulled up I almost made my own manure.. Not the droids we are looking for however..

The way I do it is put it out on a tarp on a slightly sloped area, that gets some sun. You want rain and sun to hit it. Keep it out like that for 2-3 months and it is ready. It might be ready now as-is just looking at the pics, and knowing it's been out there a couple months already. Take a sniff and if it doesn't smell strongly of urine (ammonia) or fresh manure, it is likely ready. You don't have to use a tarp but if you don't, sometimes the worms will get into it and work it into the soil quite quickly.

I've been aging manure in 5 gallon buckets in my backyard where they get sun. I have a bunch of holes drilled in the bottom of the bucket for drainage as well as a microbial interface with the ground. The top layer kept drying out so I covered it with a bag to help hold the moisture. Before I covered with a bag, I was hosing them down every time I watered the garden, so the frequency changed with the season.

The only reason I am trying buckets is because they are more inconspicuous than a small mountain of shit on a tarp. Using a tarp would surely be preferred as long as you have the privacy to do so.

My aging method will be tested before long.

Thank you both! It doesn't have any real smell, but I will likely age it a bit.

I’ve just been sun drying fresh manure for like about two weeks max, do y’all see benefit to aging at all? I’m hesitant to let it sit in my small backyard for months but maybe I’ll try next year and see.

I'm only afraid of stinking up my kitchen again by using too fresh of a manure. It wasn't even green and it was still too fresh that one time. I really didn't know what I was doing at all then, so I'm probably being over cautious for nothing.

If two weeks works then by all means go with it. I haven’t done any experiments where I’ve compared grow results against manure age. It would be a good test for someone to do because waiting two weeks is much more convenient than two months.
