Looking great.
I just made a bucket with Wild Coast, pure H-manure and cased with straw. What did you use for casing, is this just straw? How thick have you applied it? Going to do a few more buckets hopefully and want to try out some options.

T1 plates of Pan Cyans ‘Jalisco’.
Excuse the condensation throwing focus off on a couple of the photos.
They’re looking clean - the decision I have to make is to transfer away from these plates to T2 or take the T1’s to grain?
Or both I guess!
First time with pan cyans, any observations appreciated.

Thanks everyone in here for the cryovial storage tips!
I've been doing some .1% sugar LC in capped syringes in a mini fridge for long term storage. I just started doing that a few months ago, so idk how well it's going to work yet. I'll be doing some cryovials too. Less space and room temp are both a plus. I've read some exotics (pans especially) don't do well with cold storage, especially longer term.

(Edited) I would wait until you hear from others, but I would trust the last two to go to grain. That first plate with the 2 cultures on it might need another transfer from each culture. The second plate looks mostly good, but there might be something sketchy on the LH side, around the 8 o'clock area.
I look forward to seeing if others agree or disagree with me on that. It's all good either way, I'm just trying to challenge myself.

Pan Estero. First grow ever. Little concerned about the shininess/moisture. No bad smell. No unusual color.
Thoughts??

Looking good. Those brown spots are grains right? Almost thought that they were pins going to poke through any minute.

Yes. I bought a “grass lovers kit” from a company (don’t know if I can mention). I was even newer when I got it and wanted to get started. Now I have all the fixin’s to blend my own. We’ll see…
On a side note, so I’m in there, I have the hood on, I’m dying from alcohol inhalation poisoning trying to be as clean as possible, and I go to reach for something on top of my hood, knock an old scalpel down, RIGHT ON TO THE TRAY. I about shit myself. So, we’ll see what the penalty for that is.
So all that shininess and moisture are normal? Had a clear plastic lid on them.

Thank you guys for the kind words. Baba Yaga, I put cacti soil, straight from the bag to fill in around the subs and as a thin casing. Might be why there is green? I added a light sprinkle of straw more as a mulch, I live in a very dry climate.

All good, a fully colonized tray like this will be fine even if you sneeze on it. Just don't drop any doughnut crumbs on there and you will be fine

Thanks mate, climate here can get dry at times but its windy here all the time which dries things out quick. I had success with zifozenke's drop spawn and cover with horse manure but fruits would not get very big because of windburn. Applied the straw kinda thick.

Having it down in the bottom of a large industrial style trashcan or even tall pots is the only way I believe I may succeed growing in my climate. I also put a loose sheet of plastic clamped over the top to trap some humidity. During Summer the wind is like a convection oven.

Baba, I know you run pan subs cased and uncased. What would you recommend for PanMax? It looks like his tray is ready, or close to being ready for a casing layer. (Maybe another day?)
I don't like giving advice anymore because just when I think I know what I'm talking about, I find out I don't. That and I haven't grown anything in like a year. A lot of shit has changed in that year, so if you don't mind, I'm going to try and let others answer as much as possible. It will do me some good to just keep reading as much as I can. I'm still finding more detailed information on just about every aspect of growing, from spore to fruit in bag.
PanMax, I do feel confident enough to say don't worry about the amount of water on the substrate. Pans like it wet! Way more wet than cubes! I agree with Baba that you're looking good right now. I always cased my pan subs, I don't plan on changing that anytime soon.

Thanks to both of you for the reassurance. I cased them this evening. I put the lid back on and I will take it off tomorrow morning and move in to the fruiting tent using Hindsight’s and Baba’s insights.
Really appreciate all the tips and guidance along the way from everyone that take the time to reply (with actual answers).

The uncased tubs are just a side project atm. Playing around more than anything else as all I'm running is MS so far, so for me it currently doesn't matter what is coming out of it as long as I'm getting some clone material. Once the clones are ready I will be more disciplined and will follow a plan.
@ panmax: looks like the tray is ready to be cased and fruited.

Just an update on my Estero Clone tray from a few days ago. This tray has been in the "JCM" chamber for about 14 days now. I still only have the couple pins from three days ago, however the largest one is now grown to almost 4" tall with a 1/4" stipe. I was beginning to think I had somehow gotten some cube contamination, but its clearly not. It boggles me why this tray didn't flush, but at the very least it looks like a decent clone in the works.

I was really hoping that tray would give you more fruits, but like you said, at least you have some clone material to work with.
I've found that some cultures are just duds. I've found more duds working with pans than I ever did with cubes. Every time I start from MS, I try running at least 3 different cultures until I see how they fruit and/or get a chance to test the potency with what should be a threshold dose for me. (So far, I haven't found any weak cultures, but I've read about them on occasion. I expect to find one myself at some point...)
I'll keep those cultures running on agar or grain until determining which ones I want to keep and which ones I want to trash.

Biggest pinset so far. They are loving the tub with larger holes it seems! The mature fruits dried to 0.9g, which is very decent.

Cross post from Baba’s pans in mono thread. These were grown in a 23L EZ Dial. MP tape over the holes until about 2 days after full colonisation and then cased with Peat/Verm 50/50 with a bit of Calcium Hydroxide for PH adjustment. I gave them a generous misting 1-2 times a day after casing but other than that pretty much just let them do their thing!
Pan Jambo tub that was cased 8 days ago. Decided I’d try and harvest what has started dropping spores. This is a few shots of the tub

Some decent looking clusters, not bad for MS

Managed to pull just over 60g’s (The aquarium scissors were definitely earning their money!)

I’m gunna probably harvest the rest tomorrow. I’ve maybe taken 50% or more of the harvest. This is what the tub looks like after the harvest

Still a decent bit to grab!
Thanks to Baba Yaga for his pans in monos write up! Helped immensely and I’m glad to finally get my first ever lot of Pan Jams!
