for the tropical panaeolus species(cyanescens, cambodginiensis, tropicalis) 75F/24C-85F/29C seems to be the ideal range but i've seen pan cyan mycelium remain unaffected by temperatures as high as 90F/32C and as low as 60F/16c.
and in response to your earlier question about growth rates on agar in my experience with pan cyan mycelium when i make a round of transfers they are usually ready for another round of transfers in 10-14 days. i still haven't gotten a clean culture but i would estimate that it would probably take around 2.5-3 weeks for clean mycelium to colonize the major portion of a plate. here's an example of 2 weeks growth on of my transfers. this mycelium was still harboring some bacterial infection so it probably would have advanced even faster if it was clean.

oh i didn't know it was that slow. that makes me feel better about my plate. i've been waiting a week and it's only a bit larger than a US quarter. i thought something was wrong.

I'm about ready to drop my first wedges of Pan Cambo to grain, which I'm planning on spawning to a mini-mono plus a few small containers in a SGFC.
What I'm wondering is whether or not my existing mini-mono for cubes (which is a 20 qt. and roughly 16"L x 11"W x 11"H) is worth using. Would the lower holes be too high since the Pan Cambos require a much shallower substrate? Am I better off dedicating a new tub to pans and just drilling the holes lower for them?

Here's a tub ("sweater box" size actually) of pans just starting to fruit. It has no holes. I kept the sub shallow. The lid just sat loosely on top before I put the whole thing in the GH without a lid.

These are from spores of a mushroom that was growing on my roof in a planter, ID'd as an active by Riverdweller. I'm calling them "Roofies" for now. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23719032#23719032
Maybe just some bisporous I was trying to grow in the past? In the container in which it grew, I'd put bagged composted pasturized horse manure + wood shavings of unknown origin, hemlock mulch, and some compost. Viridis420 wonders if pan oliv.
I let the casing get dry trying not to mist it and so finally I did mist & took crappy pics trying to hold camera down in tub while in a hurry. Better ones later.

Bluing would likely indicate bisporous rather then oliveaces

Hey Fantastic Mr. Fox I marked this long ago and forgot I had. Thank you for sending me my first Pan Cambo print that led to my first Pan Grow... and thanks for this thread.

I'm going to get back at the pan / cope growing soon. I have yet to eat some... I should get at that too I suppose.
Anyone care to verify from personal experience that Pan Cyan Hawaiian's have a clear euphoric trip?

i've read a bunch of panaeolus growlogs and i don't recall seeing anyone getting fruits off just grain. if i remember correctly i've only seen that method tried once or twice maybe. some people do alright with manure-less substrates though.

would just straight poo work or should I add straw or something to give it more volume?

yeah, manure-based substrates need something else in them to give them structure otherwise they can get too dense and muddy. most growers use a mix of equal parts straw or coir to manure.

I just spawned 2 qts of semperviva to a sub of properly pastuerized hpoo:straw:coir:verm in a 1:1:1:1 ratio and used coffee and gypsum for additives...the straw was also soaked in lime water for 24 hours
I have high hopes for this recipe and I also plan on using same recipe for 10 jars of Bisporous I have pretty close to completely colonized, will post pics later!

got some pretty nice growth going on this one pan cyan plate. most of the other transfers from this round were looking kind of disorganized so i figured it would be best to take a bunch of transfers off this one. meant to get to it sooner but was busy preparing for a visit by an old friend. i'm thinking this next round should yield a clean culture. even though i don't think this one is totally clean i still threw some wedges on some manure cakes just for the fuck of it.
