Hey everyone new teapot here, trying to socialize.

Here’s the update on my “weed” Pans. LC (1tbsp of lme) inoculated with the 6th transfer.

Let me know what you think, I got to collect manure this weekend so awesome.

Have any of you grow Pan. Cint. ? First time.

Healthy Pan Cyan LC should look like this (2 weeks old):

All my Pan LC (about 8 different strains) looked this.
Your looks different - maybe contaminated. But I am not sure.

Bisporus 7.8g fresh -> 0.5g dry exactly. Which puts it at astonishing 6.5% dry mass.

Yeah they don't turn into thin fragile sticks like the estero I grew, pretty sturdy stipes when dried and still recognisable as a mushroom haha. Nice Adas! Beautifull

IMO the difference between these two LC is one was stirred a lot and vigorous and the other was left alone more with an occasional swirl. No obvious indication that something is wrong that I see. The question now is have you stirred yours a lot Benderr or used a magnetic stirrer? Anyway, if you are new to LC and mushroom cultivation in general then don't go big at the beginning, either test your LC on agar or do a small batch or a few MacMerdin cakes first.

Maybe you are right about your thoughts on the difference between them, Baba Yaga.

I'm totally open to being wrong, but the way that LC is chunky and has little bits sticking to the glass makes me think it's contaminated. I've had a sneaky black spore mold in an LC that looked a lot like that before. If you put some to grains, you'll know within a few days if it's that...it will grow way too fast and make the grains look extra wet before showing black spores.

Some nice pan pics in here lately, it's making me want to try some again. I have some prints that might be too old to germinate, but I think I'm going to try and see what happens.

True, haven't noticed that there were heaps of bits sticking to the glass. A few little bit can happen with clean cultures but that is a lot, saw this happening with a moldy culture as well. Needs testing for sure.

Pan cinctulus mycelium always looks contaminated to me, it is a weird one. Maybe it is the "stones" causing it to look weird?

You are right Yosh, cinctulus does look very different compared to the other pan species. I remember that this image of cinctuls on cake mix posted by nycosmith really threw me off.

Anyhow, it's clearly not easy to tell if Benderr's LC is clean just by looking at it. Might be good after all and worthwhile giving it a go. Benderr, have a look at this grow by alaskappalachian.

Yeah, definitely give it a chance and see what happens...or fuck around and find out or whatever.

I've personally only worked with cambo and cyan in the past, so idk much about cinctulus and it's weirdness.

H bird, I’m interested in it’s “weed” like ability to grow. I heard it’s weak but it has to be one of the easier pans to fruit.

Mr. Yaga I’m a chief at cubes but total pan noob, I work in front of a hood. If it’s dirty I’m going to have to go back to the print.
I transferred 6 times from spores so it should be clean.

I’ve never seen it cling to glass tho either so it might just be a quirk.

Oh yes I have been shaking the shit out of it.

Thank you for the link, I’m not using the search bar right.

So here’s my 6th transfer plate, that blue is new. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Top an bottom view of pan. cint.

Hi
Im currently trying to breed a wild pan species that I haven’t formally identified. I don’t think it’s cinctulus because I found it on grass, but it has black spores and looks almost identical to a cinctulus. It could be pan olivaceus, or possibly fimicola, or some sort of panaeolus that hasn’t been classified yet, or a rare case of a cinctulus on grass habitat I guess. But the interesting is that the mycelium is mostly grey, not white, and it has those some dark spot (possibly future stones?) showing in your pic, so that all looks very consistent for cinctulus (or a closely related species) to me. I will try to post pics later.

Bender Welcome! I’ve grown cinctulus few times, it was even the first Pan specie I grown before trading for more exotic & potent ones... Let us know and see how it turns you will see relatively fast if it’s cinctulus myc during colonization : )

Pan cinctulus (indoor) 2017

Indoor cinctulus

Vast218 to me cinctulus are really common in the grass.

Those are beautiful V.L

I know there’s a bit of a debate about cinctulus habitat so I’ll keep an open mind. My mycelium looks a lot like your cinctulus on grain, but on agar it doesn’t look like anything I’ve ever seen posted on here, here’s an example:

I guess we’ll see when it fruits, cinc are typically have very thick stems like in you pics

From what I observed usually they are more thick when growing from enriched soil, horse poo like this:

Wild cinctulus in rich poting soil

and cinctulus growing in grass tend to be more thin & tall to be upper the grass to disperse their spores..
