They seem to be predatory mites. They eat the bad mites that destroy mycelium.

I was googling a bit, and notice these things look like them.. "red pepper mites"... quote "moving on the mushroom caps or the casing surface. These mites feed on competing fungi (generally on trichoderma)"
...would be something if we can grow these mites in abundance as our mini army agains "the green".. seems like I'm in business.. "Yo 0t0.. got some mites to share"
... got to try, opened a petri and probably caught some nice trich on there, if the mushrooms survive the mites, I'll put the mites in a bucket with some sterile soil for hiding places or whatever they need.. add the moldy petri and lets see what happens.

I'm honestly not too sure about that. I've seen mites not discriminate. They eat any mycelium and molds. If the ones in your photos are somewhat fast-moving, chances are they are the predatory kind. In any case, outdoors you don't have to worry.

Really wondering what it is

It came from ultimately 2 years of work with a captainfuture Hispanica marked print.
Any exotics people weigh in?
This is a Panaeolus. Congrats on mislabeling again
are you sure? :P its pinning in a passive box, and the mycelium is quite different to pan bunell at least
its also making stones..

True true.. I'll grow all of them outdoors anyway, they are coming along nicely, really a lovely sight.
2 layers of cloth were still moist this morning, casing doesn't look dry, mushrooms appear happy, so I just spayed the cloth today.
Do these also become stronger when they mature?
UPDATE: Growing a bit, I'll harvest by the end of the day I guess, also for printing:

More evidence that my steam pasteurizer is having a noticeable positive impact on my grows.
Unlike Pan Cyans, I often don't get a second flush of Pan Bispos, and if I do, it's often just three or four fruits. Well now with the steam pasteurized substrates, I am getting good second flushes in 7/7 of my trays. They aren't as good as the first flushes but they are around 30% to 75% of the first flush. It also looks like I will get third flushes out of these trays, and maybe beyond. I have not had a single trich outbreak in 7/7 of these trays. I think I have had some trich on a Subtropicalis tray that fruited well, but I can't remember if I had built the steam pasteurizer when I cooked up the sub for that one so I can't say for sure.

I'm also starting to weigh my dried harvests per tray, and am getting very consistently 8 grams dry of Bispos per myco quart which is 1 tray.

Looks great, looked the same on my bags, has somewhat of a fluffy blanket covering the substrate.

Hey guys. I've written down my cloning TEK with a picture included. Let me know what you think, and what could be improved. Thanks! I feel like this especially comes in handy with mushrooms with tiny stems.

I've never had an issue with pans growing on any of the normal agar formulas, however, I find grain water agar to be the best for pan growth. Since pan growth is always tomentose, I find that LME causes it to be extremely thick and solid and you can't really see what's going on. Grain water agar results in thinner growth that makes things easier to see so this is what I have been using exclusively for over a year. I take 3 parts of water left over from boiling my grain spawn and mix it with 7 parts of distilled or filtered water. So for 1000ml that's 300ml of grain water and 700ml of filtered water, then add 20g of agar. Works great.

Am I the only one who doesn't dilute the grain water for use in agar? I use Wheat if that makes a difference.

I've never tried full strength grain water but I'm sure it would work just fine. My only fear is that it might not be as clear. I am not sure if the growth pattern on full strength would be any more dense than on diluted though.

Mine is pretty clear but that's because I sterilize my grain water with the grain, so it always sits for some time before I make agar, so the sediment settles out nicely.
I have another Bunnell jar colonizing, let's hope everything works out this time.

Hey hindsight, you gotta try DFA for pans. Hands down the best so far for me. I've left using any other recipes for pans.
