Pan cam move a lil slower Bisp even more so pan jam cam is the exception tho, imo the Jambos are by far the easiest most forgiving pan and a excellent choice for growers new to pan cult

PHV, necD, Bisp and pan cyan Bunnell Unfortunately both these PHV and Nec D have poor spore production so I’m in the process of breeding them back to where I had them before I had to move my lab and lost all my isos, for some reason I’ve been having shit luv from MS in terms of spore production so rather than continuing to cross my fingers and hope I get what I want I’m just gonna make it happen myself lol.

Okay, that's reassuring to hear. Hopefully the pan jams will finally let me have some success with this genus

Hi all, I feared I would get fruits during my 2,5 week vacation, but it was very dry and hot in the Netherlands, after I got back from holiday (a week ago) watered the planters a few times and voila! first Pan Bisporus fruits have appeared (these are from your print V.L, merci beaucoup):

JXAllen said: I'm hoping to get some eyes and opinions on my first pan cyan grow. These are supposed to be peace river. I'm not exactly sure what to expect from here. Should I expect any more quantity from subsequent flushes? These guys seem short compares to what I usually see in other pictures. Is it from FAE or genetics? I've got them in a martha with a humidity controller set to 93 -5. Any comments and/or pointers greatly appreciated!

My Peace River looked like this:

I saw that Peace River, Texas and Brooksville give high harvests if all the conditiions kept right.
So, do I not have Peace River or do I not even have Pan cyan? Or is it just a different growing condition? I started getting upturned caps while they were around 1-2 inches tall with caps from 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch. I went ahead and harvested what was there. The picture of the freshly harvested mushrooms I just harvested came out blurry unfortunately, but this is what they looked like dried.

Anyone else have any other observations or comments? I could really use some help here. Do they flush like cubes or will they continue to push out a few here and there. It seems like I see a couple new pins every day or two. But now big flush coming in. Is that just a roll of the genetic dice? or is there something I can do to get a better flush with what I have?

Could be genetics but my theory is that contamination is playing a role more often than not when this happens. I grew one and the same pan cambo variety for 4 years and when I had unusual fruiting behavior then the sub would grow mold relatively quick. Symptoms would include sparse fruiting, deformed and dwarf fruits and fruits that abort easily.
Just a theory that fits my observations.

Hi jake!
The first time I raised NecD from a multispore and took a print. Later, I used this print to get a monoculture on agar and got the next crop Then I took the prints from monoculture. Now I'm trying to use these latest prints to get a monoculture on agar, but the spores do not germinate. On the same agar, Texas, Brooks, and Peace River germinate very good, but NecD does not. Now I'll take the old print from the multispore again and try to sow it on agar - I'll see if it will germinates. Could this behavior be normal for a young hybrid with unstable genetics?

I love how much bispo I've been seeing in the thread lately. Hoping to try my hand at some of those in the near future. _________
This jambo jar looked a little sketch to me, but it was also 1-2 days past full colonization. Colonizing bulk nicely, this is 2 days after spawning to some JOC hpoo/straw

I could use some opinions! I'm not sure what the ideal Pan Cyan mycelium looks like, I've only done cubes.
Inoculated at the same time via spore print. What would you choose any why?

The first pic is too blurry. The second pic - the growth is still too small. Third pic - all growth there looks great. See in that third pic how there are patterns in the mycelium that are radiating outward from the center like spokes? That is what you want. If it is more disorganized to where you can't see those patterns, there is a chance it might have ride-along contamination or it isn't the species you are trying to grow. Sometimes if you have several cultures all climbing over the top of one-another, it can be difficult/impossible to see the proper pattern.

I don’t know I never have issued germinating nec D I just have had to put work and getting the Fruits to have good spore production which I’ve never had to do for Nec D before but it is part tropicalis which often times don’t produce a lot of spores But with breeding I will get it fixed and same with PHV when I first made the cross the caps would have a light purple dusting after doing some breeding to increase spore production they look like this

MY GOD those are beautiful!

Day 4 after spawning and it looks fully colonized but so damn cottony. Not sure if this is a bad sign.

Am i remembering correctly, waiting 1-2 days to case will prevent overlay?

I have some trays that look that cottony. It's ok. The more cottony they are, the higher the chance of overlay, the longer I tend to wait to case, and I definitely advise not leaving them covered after casing. I'd wait 2-3 days after full surface colonization on a tray like that, then case it and immediately move it to fruiting conditions. You will likely get some growth through the casing layer anyway but it is what it is. I don't find that it hurts fruiting on pans that do that.

I've had a lot of beginner's luck with them but then failure after failure. There are more people here that grew them tho, so just ask away.
