With the first few transfers from multispore I still find it difficult as well to see whats going on. In my experience it becomes clearer once you are taking clones. Lowering the nutrient content can help as well. I'm currently on 1% but start thinking about going down to 0.5% for plates.

I loved the idea of the Instapot and used it to successfully grow pans for over a year but results were more hit-and-miss than I would have liked. I would often get seedlings growing in my substrate during colonization and with proper pasteurization that should never happen. So I built a steam sterilizer. So far I'm having much more consistent success with my trays - lower contamination rates and higher success rates. I still get trich here and there as we all do, but it's even less common now. You can see the steam pasteurizer setup in my journal. Very easy and cheap to build. Alternative, you can use the tried-and-true stovetop method that Gorguss mentioned though there are different variations and I would advise going to 160F internal.

Put these 4 T2s to grain yesterday
I think they look a little more fluffy than desired, but my eyes are not very trained for pans
It also may have to do with my agar recipe which includes nutritional yeast

Those look great. They have good organization lines moving outward from the center. Yes a bit fluffy and very dense - but as you said, that's likely due to your agar recipe. I quit using peptones, yeast, and LME and went to just straight GWA and find much more consistent results with mycelium that is better defined and easier to see what's going on.

Cool good to know! I prefer no yeast in my agar for pans, but I like the results I see with cubes. Out of laziness, I don't pour two separate recipes. GWA sounds nice and easy I think I'll give that a try in the future

I do 700ml of distilled water plus 300ml of grain water (the water used for my grain prep - should be fairly dark).

Easiest way is to use large pots and a gas burner. Bring the temp of the water to 150Β°F and then find the sweet spot on the gas burner to keep it right there. after 3 hrs you should be good to go. dump or pull the bags and let cool for 24hrs before use.
This is how I pasteurize my casing mixes.

Alright Shroomery wizards, every time I master a new skill, I end up needing more tools for solving the puzzle. Here are some gorgeous new finds from the wild.
 The beautiful mushroom giving rainclouds.
Now instead of excitedly eating them, I took spore prints this time. Since they are wild spore prints, I knew they would be contaminated but I gave them a shot anyways, and now all my plates have turned out very bacterial. The contam is certainly from the spores as my unused plates have no growth and my inoculation tool was always flame sterilized before use. Is it still possible i could get a transfer from these plates?
Other options I have read about: 1. Streaking the spores in a Z to create more spread of spores and contam 2. Making diy antibacterial agar 3. Mixing the spores with water and using a very small droplet to put use as few spores and contam as possible 4. Try to get the smallest speck of spores to agar instead of dropping larger visible pieces on the plate 5. Dont even bother and use a professional print with way less contam.
Any experience on what would work? I'd love to cultivate from my own wild finds.

Those are beauties indeed.
I would let the plates sit for a while, sometimes mycelium can grow out of the mess but the alternatives you have mentioned could work as well. Streaking in a zigzag pattern an diluting spores are good ways. The only antibacterial agar I used is tea agar which doesn't work for germinating spores though. Never used antibiotic agar.
A good method imo is to germinate on small BRF/verm pucks like Josex describes in this thread
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24806569#24806569
it is working really well to get rid of bacteria.

I haven't really had bacterial problems with any spore prints, which tells me it must be your technique. However, sometimes it helps to let the spore prints sit for a while before using them. A lot of bacteria won't survive that.

Been working some more bisporus in unmodified, first pins littered the sides so initially I was bumming, but the top layers have been slowly filling out nicely, not as even as Iβd like but Iβm gunna take what I can get. Fingers crossed I can get some good flushes out of these guys. Cloned culture from the first grow I did recently, already seeing some improvement. This culture hates grain though so Iβve completely accepted using sterile manure spawn which has been working much better. Generally I use field dried nuggets but the folks I got it from have started refusing me so got a new person but thereβs a lot more wood shavings and some composted mixed in, glad itβs not having any Iβll effects. Also recently found a cintulus nearby my home, no pics, but got it printed and sending to agar soon. Cambos on grain excited to see how those compare to bisporus once theyβre ready. Gotta say though bisporus has been real good to me lately.

Thanks man, forgot to add, in the first grow I had my window open the whole time, this time no open window or fan going in the room. Just passive air from the rather stagnant room. So seems the air exchange requirements are less than I previously thought. Think Iβm going to keep trying to restrict that in the future and see how far I can push it this winter.

Good point, technique might be the culprit here.
