They're popping out! Should I still case? I have it on the sgfc - should I moist the perlite and start fanning? This is my first grow and so psyched they grew!

took my first transfers of pan cambo.

the pan cyan aussies i also got going are not impressive. i might do a new spore plate. lame growth. using basic pasty agar. nothing fancy.
more details in my super fantastic journal.

maybe someone else with pan experience can chime in but i think yes. it can't get much worse so why not try and save it with a casing

District, that's kind of odd how that mycelium would start pinning before a casing layer has been applied. i'm still a novice grower but i've spent alot of time studying the process and i don't recall seeing anyone get good results without a casing layer. i would think that your options at this point would be to apply the casing layer now even though it will probably cause the pins to abort more should pop up. or if you wanted to get really crazy you could see if somehow you isolated some rare strain of genetics that will fruit without a casing layer. however you decide to proceed keep please keep us updated with your results. i will be curious to see how this turns out.
and congratulations that you have gotten this far into the process on your first grow. like yourself, i chose to begin my mushroom journey with a panaeolus species and from what i gather we are a rare breed for having made that decision. i still haven't had a successful fruiting but i've been learning alot from my mistakes and still having a ton of fun in working towards that goal.
mushboy, for me personally the Pasty agar didn't work so well. i've found that a premixed MEA has been more effective. i noticed though that bodisatta got some good results with brf agar mix in a recent thread of theirs.

It's well here it is on the second day. More pins found it to the top.

nice, they did manage to push out some fruits. i would think that you could still benefit by adding a casing layer because it might help the pinset become more organized but i could be wrong. either way, those fruits should be good candidates for cloning as that mycelium seems to have some strong fruiting genetics.

So usually when the color starts to get eaten that means the culture has grown.(ime. i could be wrg) but this growth is next to nothing. of course minirounds are impossible to see through so i guess ill know when i open it later to transfer whatever i can.
pan cyan aussie. the growth is really wispy. noting like the pan cambo i also have(much more cube like)

opinions??

cambo does seem to be the most aggressive of the pans for me, so don't rule out that the cyan you got going is okay. When you transfer, try to get a good pic!

i dont think it was the food coloring being eaten that gave it the color..

i took 2 xfers anyway. but id say thats a toss/do over. its like i cultivated semen.

that growth on the bottom definitely looks like pan mycelium and after looking at the earlier picture of this plate i would think that the other mass of growth could be pan mycelium as well but it's hard to say for sure with the picture quality. the one on the bottom seems to have a nicer growth pattern though so i would concentrate on that one.

You may get lucky with that edge transfer, but if you have a free plate and spores, light up another loop for backup.

yeah, you got some decent fruits out of that. not a large harvest but a harvest nonetheless. might be enough for 2 or 3 trips there. i'm sure you'll enjoy the fruits of your labor.
