Its my first time working with pans and wanted to see what you guys thought of these plates and to see if yall would recommend some sections for transfers. Top row is Panaeolus cambodginiesis Jamaica, bottem is Panaeolus cyanscens Peave River.
Thanks!

The cracked caps are because the power went out while I was away and the only thing that doesn't re-start automatically is the room humidifier. Tent still fogs but the ambient air is like 35% RH with the room humidifier off, vs 50% with it on. Makes a big difference.

Beautiful mate!

You got some nice plates there!
Top row #1 is looking good but could do with another transfer. Bottom row #2 and #3 are looking very good and could go to grain IMO.
You can take from anywhere around the edge from the good looking plates.
If you want to take transfers from the rest the I would take from bottom row #1 between 1 - 2 o'clock, #4 between 10 - 2 o'clock and 5 - 7 o'clock.
#2 and #3 in the top row are looking dodgy IMO. Although #2 is showing a fairly uniform growth patter, the way the myc is organized seems suspicious to me. Lets see what the others think.

Is there much difference from multiple transfers to no transfers with pans?

There we go.. first pan cyan attempt:
It's pretty warm, around 87f in this shed.. I noticed the chamber did not fill with fog because it's warm and too much moisture evaporates..(hopefully the pans will survive the warmth) so I've misted the entire thing for some time, also the casing layer as it appeared dry.. placed a rag on top, hopefully that will lock in the moisture a bit..I'll check on it in a few hours hopefully it remains moist.

Another bispo harvest. These were pretty tall - several of the big ones were almost 5g.

Beautiful, I was reading about them and one personen mentioned to notice more nausea with bisporus.. how do they compare to pan cyan according to you? Anything peculiar trip wise?

I have not taken them yet myself. My good friend has taken them three, four, maybe five times now in the last couple of months, and another friend has taken them once. The first friend said ALL his trips on them were basically the same with some minor variations. Not only that but my other friend who did them by himself described to me the exact same kind of trip as the other friend. This is all very noteworthy because I feel like with cubes and even pan cyans, the trips can be VERY different from one to the next, even with the same batch of mushrooms sometimes.
The common points were: 1. The most incredible OEVs they have ever seen. They could see and touch things that didn't exist. A tiny red power stats LED on a smoke detector would manifest as a glowing red orb in their hand that they could touch and move etc. 2. Much less existential feelings, anxiety, and dread than cubes/pancyans, however, they did experience nausea and come-up anxiety at high doses (2g and above), but no puking. My friend did 2.5g last weekend. He said the come-up was much harder than lower doses but it only lasted 20-40 mins and said the rest of the trip was absolute heaven. In the 15+ years I have known him, I have never once seen him this excited about any specific mushroom. In those 15 years I've known him, he kept referencing a Penis Envy trip he had like 20+ years ago and has kept trying to chase that dragon without ever catching it. Until these bispos. He said they beat that PE trip and these are all he ever wants to do anymore.
I really need to try them but I haven't tripped in two or three months due to just being too busy to carve out the time.

Thank you for your elaborate explanation. This makes me even more excited about these, than I already was. I feel you.. my last trip was 16 december.. half a year ago.

Ok this is interesting.
My pasteurization method for many months now has been to follow what JOC does which is to load your sub at field capacity in 2.5gal zip-lock bags, zip the seal up, put in an instapot, fill with water, weight down to ensure submersion, then set on keep warm for 12 hours. I find temps are around 150-160 in the core. Then age the bags on the shelf, still sealed, for 3-5 days. I have never seen any mold or mycelium growing on the pasteurized substrate when I finally open the bag to use them.
I got the idea that maybe it would be beneficial for the micro-organisms in the pasteurized substrate to get some air exchange, so in my last batch, I loaded the sub into a mycobag with a patch filter and impulse sealed it shut, then followed my normal pasteurization procedure. Then set it on the shelf to age 5 or so days and came back to this when I opened it:

Some mold or mycelium growing in there. I'm not inclined to think that this was caused by improper pasteurization since it hasn't happened before. It could have been due to my using different manure (can't recall which box of manure I pulled this from), but aside from that, my only other variable was the mycobag. So for now, it seems that it is best to keep an anaerobic environment in the bag after pasteurization. Not enough tests to say that for sure, but it makes me want to avoid trying the mycobags again.

Hmm, I'm also using myco bags. I don't have an impulse sealer nor hepa filter and use some micropore tape to quickly close the bags in open air after the PC has cooled down. I use 2 probes in each bag so I know it has hit 60+ celcius in each bag.. PC has 3l of water as a temp buffer. I turn the heat off entirely at 58 celcius, set the timer after 60 celcius and check on a graph the peak temperature.. which hits 79 celcius.. and reaches 60 again after 2.5 hours or so. I do keep the substrate fluffy before loading it into the pressure canner, no dense pockets, very airated.. and loosely fold the plastic 2x to make sure the probe is still centered and use 2 clamps for that. So I'm curious now too.. as I've let it sit for max 24 days and have inspected it carefully prior to use and didn't see any mold. Hmm.. I have now 2 bags left that are now 1 month old.. I'll leave them untouched to see how long it takes for mold to develop.

Gonna have a go at pans soon in a Martha I'm setting up. There's tons of stables in my area but I can't seem to get field dried manure for some reason, everyone seems to stack it up in trailers and let it compost that way.
So that will have to do, be good to experiment and I have a few nugs from the stuff that's been gifted to me so I'll focus on drying those out and using the best stuff (I've had manure of three different people in the last 3 weeks!).
I'm a fairly new grower but excited to give these a go, heard so many great things about them and read a great deal of awesome stuff here.
Wish me luck!
