Pans are a long term goal of mine but ive been doing a bunch of reading and im thinking of a cheap way to run an automated pan fruiting chamber would be mixing jcm’s but without the air stones and instead using like 2-3 in of perlite and 1-2 of water with the aquarium heater and a few on the side like a monotub. are there any obvious problems with this setup?

Photoshoot Harvest day for the Bisporus.
Straight to the money shot - 22g fruit.

Don't get too excited, my mushrooms are probably way wetter than yours with my weird FC. Still not too shabby, I'd say it would be like 12-15g if not saturated.
Another Biggun:

Here are some general "nice pics" of the boxes:
I thought the sides of the sub looked really cool and the rhizomes a lot more "wild" than cubensis so I grabbed a couple shots:
The two boxes came out with almost the same exact weight wet. The box with the thick but fewer fruits had a thin casing, and the box with more, skinnier fruits had a casing about twice as thick.
Shroom Jenga. Not recommended. These Bisporus are super brittle and this shit fell down like three times, making me feel like an asshole and breaking caps and stems. But we must show off for the internet, so.

This grow was done with 1 myco-quart of 50/50 oats/WBS, prepared no-prep style, and inoculated with LC.
I didn't do any real myc selection. I just transferred clean vigorous growth from MS and made the LC from the T1.
I prepared 3 quarts store bought high quality organic composted manure blend, three quarts bucket Tek Coir/Verm. No straw. I added some water to bring to field capacity, but it didn't take much. I sealed this in a myco bag and pasteurized it in a crock pot on warm for 18 hours.
I let the sub sit on a shelf and build "microbe count" for I believe a couple weeks before inoculating with 1 quart grain in a SAB, and re-sealing.
This colonized for something like 15 days before I was certain it was ready to be laid to shoeboxes.
I laid it to shoeboxes, placed into a JCM-"like" chamber, and after 8 days it was ready for casing. I cased with jiffy seed starting mix, which was brought to field capacity and pasteurized in a crock pot.
I didn't keep track of how long it took for pins.

Yooooo!!! Fuck yeah man
Consuming that whole 22g fruit would be a WILD ride. I’m going to be consuming the entirety of my 10.5g fruit along with a 4g fruit (in tea form) to howl at the full moon tomorrow night into the morning

Hole shit mate! What an amazing grow! I've never even heard of a Pan fruit that would weigh 22 grams! That's fucking insane even if they are pretty wet!

I've only had a decent Bisporus dose once, and they sat for a while so they weren't at prime potency, but the smoothness of it is hard to really put into words. I knew I was coming up but I was doubting it at the same time due to the lack of any discomfort.
I meant to respond to this and am only now remembering. There were a lot of variables with my previous 5.7g fresh bisporus experience. I think one important variable is that I didn’t take enough and still had “one foot in the door” or so to speak. I think taking a little more than twice as much and at night time will be better. I’m glad that my trip report did something for you ^__^
And yes it was very dream like. The visuals were soft and almost like an animated film
I think bisporus was showing me the planet that it came from before arriving on Earth.

Trip report for the Bisporus that grew in the garden:
"Definitely would recommend double what you gave me. Visuals were okay. Nothing too vivid. Definite ghostly feeling if that makes sense"
This was 1.68g dry. Given to a friend. I can say they don't blue anywhere like the indoor ones, nor get as big. I'd bet the sun and heat and everything else oxidizes some actives.

Hmm that's weird, that shouldn't happen with 1.6g dry. That's supposed to be mind-bendingly potent. I wonder what happened there.
Here's my Bisporus photodump. They finally popped out of my Thyme pot too!

Karrion impressive!
Did a little cake from a Pan cyan Huasteca RDU multi-spores and got few RDU and mostly some «Albinos»

Karrion - is that sclerotia in the 2nd pic of the substrate? The mycelium looks like cinctulus when it fruits. Also, congrats on that enormous mushroom! That single mushroom could be life-changing.

This is some sclerotia from my local cincts. Kinda looks like trich or contam of some sort.

There are some side pins, I will have to take a closer look but I don't think there are any sclerotia.
I might not be able to recognize them even if they are, though.

They're sometimes easier to notice before the substrate starts pulling away from the sides of the bin and is recolonized over with fuzzy white mycelium. They're pretty small, like pea-sized, and somewhere between whitish to greenish to a deep blue-black. More people are starting to notice them in other pan species it seems. V.L has a good pic of some. Here's a couple more:

Also, the pearls will send that whispy lightning looking mycelium up to the surface and produce a fruit.

Finally found my first 2022 bispo today in the vegetables greenhouse (3rd year since they started to pop up i can almost consider them naturalised as some woodlovers in other place of the garden)

And a little Pan cyan BVI cake in the FC:

Very nice! good news, your bisporus print appears to still be alive, after 5 days I noticed some growth;

----
Will this species survive outdoors in the Netherlands? Adas where you live isn't the climate similar to my country.. if not I'll grow them in a fruiting chamber, but I would love to place them in a flower pot and grow them year after year.

Good news Otolerance! Wish you success! I’m in center of France and at least in a cheap greenhouse with high temp during summer and some freezing nights under -5 to -10 during winter they survived since several years...

Are you feeding them annually/periodically? If so with what?

Alright, -10 even, hmm.. it does become much a bit colder than that in NL from time to time, but I guess I can wrap a pot with bubble wrap, keep the top open and apply a thick layer of straw on top for a bit of insulation.
---------
Almost ready to spawn Estero to bulk

I've got two back-up jars.. frankly they are colonising much faster than these (used more wedges, cut up 3 dishes in total per jar.. no contamination despite having the jars open for quite some time, surprised by that).. 50% already. So I shook them today. And will convert a sab into a FC as I'm not going to waste good spawn.

Hinsight not specifically feeding them but a bit for the plants: 3years ago i put a good amount of horse poo for the installation of the greenhouse since I just put a bit of compost (also failed & passed mushroom cakes... it was how they started their life here) and straw mulch most years.
Yes 0t0 climate here is problably less optimal than NL : less water during summer and can be cold during winter because even more in the south I have less oceanic influence. Just if you plan to do it in a pot froze can take it more deeply than in soil..

For me they have survived one night at -15C. You're totally fine in the NL.
