Hello guys!

I've suffered a lot of anxiety from cubes before. I've only eaten bispo once and it doesn't seem to have that feeling of dread like cubes. I know set and setting is key, but do pans generally give you less anxiety/dread?

I've had a pretty rough come-up the first time I tried Bisporus. Some anger and annoyance with the anxiety. The second time was more calm/normal.

Here are some pan bispo coming up from the garden. Always compost your spent subs, and grow a garden. This will probably be at least two trips.

Two boxes of Bisporus, pushing out some mega chonkers from the first "flush". I am certain this is because I failed to mist the casing soaking wet before putting it in the FC.

After a heavy misting, you can see a lot more smaller pins are coming in.

I haven't pulled the big guy yet, but his little brother that had fallen over was 5.0g wet.

It will be like 7g I bet.

Beautiful, Karrion!

Shroomguy, I've never had any anxiety from Bisporus. Only anticipation anxiety but once they actually kick in, the euphoria melts away any anxiety.

Same here.. decided to stop growing cubensis in the hope woodlovers are more suitable for microdosing and panaeolus can give me a good trip for a change..

Thanks a lot for the replies guys! My one experience with bispora really had me fall in love with them. I have some pan cyans as well. How do those compare to pan bispora? I always thought they were quite similar. Please share your thoughts guys! Thanks again

Great bispora you have there, karri0n. I dare say bispora taste good - considering cubes taste so unpleasant. Bispora smell amazing as well.

I still use cubes for my microdosing needs though!

I'm curious if the woodlovers have a slightly different vibe to them.. will also try panaeolus for microdosing. Who knows maybe each has a subtle difference.. even if it's just the placebo effect, at least that would relief me from the bad cube vibes.

..........

Pan mycelium makes my contam-alarm go off every single time..

..checking mycelium..

OH NO CONTAMINATION...

...closer look..

Here is 1st tub, 2nd flush, a few nice sized mush to take prints from. These are MS from what are desribed as wild prints. I had the wrong time frame in mind for the bisporus so I'll try for a 3rd flush with these before they head outside. The 2nd tub 2nd flush will go tonight or tomorrow.

Here is a shoebox of cinctulus right before casing.

Dude I agree. Fresh pan Bisporus taste like agaricus Bisporus(white button mushroom/portobello) to me with a bit of alkaloid bitterness in the aftertaste. I'd totally put them on a salad.

2 days progress of Estero.

I'm convinced some shroomery people are adding a couple tablespoons of meth to their grain spawn jars because in all my grows I have never once had that kind of jump-off in anything close to two days lol. After 6 or 7 days, I usually see jump-off that extends to about 3 grain-widths away from the wedge, max. And at 2 days, usually all I see is some fuzz extending out less than 1mm from the agar wedge. This is on oats and rye. I always shake at day 7 regardless of what I see in the jars, and they take off from there.... the growth is an exponential curve. My jars almost always finish at around 14 days which I know is good/average, but I still get jealous when I see jump-off like shown above and wonder if there's something I could do to speed it up.

What do you guys see, on average, in terms of jump-off and total colonization time?

Same here brother. My absolutely fastest culture was this Aussie Cyan culture (forgot the exact name lol) and even that wasnt as fast as what many folks claim they get. God knows what causes this, but seems to me it's purely genetic.

Update on this, just for grins. Decided to track my jar growth. I always do the same rye grain prep which is to bring water a rapid boil, rinse grains off in sink for 30-60 seconds then dump into pot and cover. Water is reverse osmosis filtered with calcium/magnesium remineralization. Boil until hydrated (for me that ends up being about 23-24 mins and I always verify by slicing a few grains open to visually check), drain in colander for ~5 mins then dump on a table and spread out to dry for 15 mins until outside of grains looks dry. Immediately load and PC. This time around I added a pinch of gypsum to each jar before putting the lid on and shaking it to distribute the gypsum. I normally don't add gypsum because I've never noticed a difference. Some say the mycelium likes the nutrients form the gypsum and others say its for clumping. I never get clumping in my jars, and I haven't seen the difference in growth using it vs not using it so.....  Anyway I usually PC for 90 mins with a 10 min purge but am now upping to 15 min purge and 2.5 hour PC cycle. Not because I have issues with contaminated grain jars but because I'm just trying to see if it has any impact on fruiting performance and the number of contaminated trays I end up with (wouldn't say I have a big problem with it but I do get trich sometimes and also get the random tubs that do nothing).

Here is after 48 hours:

And here is after 84 hours - 3.5 days:

This is very typical for me. These jars will finish in 12-15 days like always. Just so funny to me how fast some people's jars go vs mine in the early phases.

Hmmm.. that is indeed a difference. This is 1,5 days.. I use plain tap water, where I live the water is a bit soft (4.8 dH). Note that parts of agar are not colonized, because I popped in the entire agar dish which was not fully colonized (50%).. the progress is 5mm

The jar lid has an injectionport and air filter. I do notice my grains appear differently don't know if that has something to do with it

I was trying to take pictures and check on it each day but then got super busy and accidentally let it go 18 hours past when it should have been picked. My biggest bisporus yet though!

It's definitely no Hindsight canopy, but two boxes of Bisporus:

This is 1 quart of grain and about 6 quarts of coir/manure/verm.

The one in the back left is quite large - I will give you guys a weight when I get a chance to harvest later.

I've got three quarts of clone culture on grain, so my next bisp run will hopefully look a bit nicer for you guys.

I am gonna do one on coir/manure/verm in the JCM, one on straw/manure in the JCM, and I don't know what substrate but I'm gonna run a low Tek tray as well.

So I had to go back to MS with everything the Florida Bunnell MS true wasn’t too shabby the Jambos gave me a Dwarf phenotype then the PHV Trop sis and Bisp pretty sparse but I was able to get a successful Clone off of a nice looking fruit with good spore production and so everything is moving along nicely and I am absolutely loving the new space
