Some time ago (08/12/16) I have done this.

This was a 3rd transfer I think. I have don total of 7 so far. I did jars with rye/hpoo/straw from 4 best looking cultures. I had to stop transferring due to lack of time.

I have done it on tuesday. The same time I packed 5 wedges from each dish to Eppendorf Tubes. So each jar and every tube is labeled with dish number and every jar will be fruited on single tray and the best fruiting strain will be selected for further work. How does it sound?

Then, they where on they way to be ready for christmas but as I was travelling 400miles to stay on christmas with my parents and in-laws, I have placed 2 of them in the fridge (other 2 tossed away due to contam). Took them out of the fridge on 26th of Dec. They looked like this on thursday.

So I've made two small trays like this.

My idea is to have fruiting substrate in loose form so i could be inoculated with agar wedges without the need of making LI. If it comes out OK then I will experiment with hpoo/straw/rye ratio. Will share results obviously . They have recovered nicely already.

Stay tuned.

Hey

Did anyone grew Pan Cyans successfully without any dung/manure? If yes what was your substrate?

I've tried just cased grains, pan trop "succeed" in some smurf fruits.
Tried in just CVG and nothing till molds.

They may require something from the mannure.

Best was horse manure.
Some flush was on composted horse manure with CVG
May work on only straw substrate.

Best casing was 50-50+
Working caseing is almost anything but not sterilised, just pasteurised (as you may know)
Without casing I did not succeed to get fruits out.

My limited expreience is only for Pan Cyan Jamaican variety and Pan tropicalis, in ancient times.

Peace

I did straw/coir mono recently. It seems to me that there where more aborts compering to same substrate + hpoo. Got only few to mature state but where quite large and printed well. Will add some pictures later.

Thanks guys for the replys.

@cronicr Why people say they need manure or they get aborts and or the grow is a weak one if they do fine on any sub? Just asking, i would love to grow them but i cant find easily manure at this time.

They'll grow fine on a CVG sub, maybe not as good as a manure sub, but if you prep it to proper field capacity and use clean spawn, you'll get decent results

are pans temperature sensitive? i have a clean plate that was growing fine but then just stopped growing.it might have gotten down to 60 or 65f at night. could that cause it to stall or die?

They are sensitive to temperature, but i don't think they would of died cus of that.

They might just be stalling, not sure though.

i had something similar happen recently and it didn't seem to cause any negative effects. i've got some 3x transfers colonizing that are looking pretty clean and i've got a small space warmer on a thermostat in with them just keep it from going below 72F/22C. one night the thermostat reset itself and it got down to 60F/15C for a few hours before i set it back. i was concerned it might cause some problems but it doesn't look like it did.

another time though i had some mycelium from an MS>LC inoculation colonizing some grains and it was looking good but then one night the temperature dipped down to 58F/14C and it got shocked and never really recovered.

maybe yours just need some time to recover but if they don't it may be a sign that the mycelium was still harboring some infection.

that happened about a week ago. it actually is just starting to recover today. for the past 4 days i've had the plate on my night stand in my bedroom where it's warm. it's just starting to fuzz up and look alive. the temp in my bedroom is 75f. it seems to like that. i used to have it in the kitchen where it gets about 60-65f at night.

I refrigerate pan plates.  Parafilm them well and toss in a Ziploc bag.

I just saw this! It's been incubating outside the sgfc. I haven't cased it yet though I now put in in sgfc. What should I do to help the fruits on the sides a grow? Why are they growing on the sides? Should I clone this now? Help!

you should have cased it. they are growing on the sides because it has proper humidity there.

that substrate looks deeper than what would be considered ideal. most growers seem to get the best results with a substrate depth of around 1.5 inches but no more than 2 inches.
