It is for easier harvesting of the fruits and to allow for re-hydration. I harvest, leave the water in there for a total of ~6 hours or so then drain it all off. I haven't noticed any difference in performance when rehydrating this way vs just adding an inch or so of water between the side of the tub and the substrate and draining that off ~6 hours later though. So mostly it is for harvesting.

Ok i thought that rehydration after harvest in pan growing just was a heavy spray. Drowning is not mentioned many times in this thread maybe i try it next time.

Is here anybody else that drowning between flushes.?!

Thanks to Baba fore showing his glory hole.

I spun off a Journal entry (signature) for tracking this experimental isolation of Pan Cyan BVI "pseudo-stones."

Not drowning - floating. Only maybe half the total thickness of the substrate is touching water (the other half is floating above it). You don't want it water-logged. It's not like coir which is somewhat slow to rehydrate.

Been a minute since I kept up with this thread, not sure who’s still active but I’m getting some weird jambo growth I’ve never seen before. Some of it looks good but grows irregularly and then some looks odd. I would say mold meshed in but these prints have always been perfect.

The first plate is looking suspect for sure. The outer ring being all disorganized and doing this weird cross linking thing seems to indicate mold, almost looks like
knotting. I'd chuck plates that look like this.

The second plate does look better. Irregular radial growth is not a deal breaker IMO. I assume these are first transfer. Taking a few transfers from the second
plate might mellow it out a bit. I have started using 1% LME agar for Pans which seemed to help with overly puffy growth and to detect contam,  planning on testing
even lower nutrient percentages next time around.

Another tray of Estero did well, I'm having issues getting thicker spore prints though, any tips?  I'm in a very dry climate for what its worth.  I'm twisting caps off in front of a flow hood and placing on aluminum foil and this time, I covered them with a glass dish that I misted the insides of to try and keep it humid, should that help?  (in the past I did a quart jar covering a few caps where I did not mist inside, but ambient RH is kinda low here so makes me think that could be to blame)I guess I'll know in a few days. Thanks

Also, how long are you all drying these pans out for?  Ive been doing 12-24 hours at around 120-125 in food dehydrator, is that to long and could it hurt alkaloid content?

Hey , I am doing estero right now. How many days for you for fruits after fruiting conditions? I am in 4th day and no pins. There are yellow water bubbled on mycelium  and that is freaking me out. Second attempt at pan cyan and not been successful so far.

Hi all, I'm finally planning for pans now.. as I'm almost done with woodlovers setup in the garden. So my plan is to first make a JCM fruiting chamber.

I am planning to buy the following air pump & stones:
- pump: AquaForte ap-35 (1800 lph, 475 gph)
- stone: Hi Oxygen Airstones 22 X 4 CM (2 of those)

I was wondering if that's overkill.. the reason why I chose this pump is because it's silent for the price. I don't want a noisy thing in my home..
anyone a different suggestion for air stones ? I am still looking around which ones would suit 30 liter per minute flow though the stones (min 15 liter per minute per stone, as I plan to just use 2)..

Wow fantastic tray :justastonishing:

Is that from clone? Pic tax: my Estero from MS:

Regarding printing, I suggest you put a water drop on the caps. It has worked well for me both for pans and semperviva

Are you fixed already? If not, I can send you a fresh Estero print to try your luck. However, I did take them in an SAB and did not take a rogue print so I can't promise they will be super clean

Hello guys!

Of course we're talking about pans here - do you case again after you harvest - I'm not asking if I should case the whole tub/tray, but just the areas of exposed mycelium after the harvest? Would it beneficial to case those areas?

Thanks so much 😊

Yes, always patch any bare areas after harvest.

Thank you.

Do you pasteurize casing just for the purpose of patching?

Yes. Pasteurize a batch of casing in a zip-lock bag and keep the bag sealed when not in use. I just keep it on the shelf like that and take out what I need whenever I need it until it runs low and then I make up another batch. I have had no issues with it contaminating no matter how long it say on the shelf for.
