You will need the casing when your substrate has been fully colonized. Gypsum is no good to adjust pH, you will need lime. 1/4 part of hydrated (or slaked) lime to 10 parts of peat and 10 parts of verm is pretty standard. With crushed/powdered lime stone or oyster shell you will need 1 part.
But having said this, I read numerous times that some people do not even bother to adjust the pH of the casing and do fine. I still do it though.
I was spawning on manure-straw. It is fully colonized. So it is time to make casing. How long can it stay? I have it colonized 100% maybe for 4 days. Hope it is ok I am doing casing today. I have some grain jar either.
So I go to buy lime then, I want to have it sure. Need to save this genetics and make prints...

Hey bra, 4-5 days since fully colonized should be OK

I gonna try your monotub tek, Baba I am quite curious. So I go to buy lime and here we go.
How long colonized jars can stay ok? Manure-straw substrate or grain? The temperature is about 28C here.

I think they're real sclerotia, just usually too tiny to really bother harvesting, although I have seen photos of bigger-sized ones. If I'm able to isolate a good pearl producer I may try consuming the myceliated grain with capsules or tea. Maybe I'll cook up some myceliated brown rice for dinner sometime.
Here is cinctulus on brown rice and pearled barley started on 3/31/22, it looks hopeful. I also have a bag on oat/barley/millet/RGS that is a few weeks behind.

Thanks Baba! Can I do less vermiculite? Like 5-6 parts of vermiculite and 10 parts of peat? Is it ok? I haven't a lot of vermiculite in reserve.
Anyway I done it like that because I need some vermiculite for cubes either, so I made it 5-6 parts verm and 10 parts peat with about 1/80 of lime and put it to sterilize in PC for 1 hour. Will it be okay?
I used to grow pans before just with peat based substrate without vermiculite but pinning was not very abundant... Now I hope for better result with pans, I added some vermiculite though
Yeah, this previous question, I just asked how long manure-straw jars or grain jars with spawn substrate can stay after the full colonizing. I got your point: it should be cased as soon as possible.

Non of this is a strict dealΒ breaker but will influence your mileage.
It's best to spawn grain asap after full colonization, meaning mixing with pasteurized bulk substrate.
When it comes to casing then you let your bulk substrate colonize and wait a couple of days after full colonization before you case.
Casing material get pasteurized and not sterilized.
I still don't know what you mean by manure straw jars. Please take a bit more care in explaining and post photos of what you are doing. I am not sure if you are mixing up the names of materials and methods or if you are actually using the wrong materials and methods.
please make sure to use the right words, materials and methods as it seems you are mixing these up: spawn vs substrate, pasteurizing vs sterilizing, casing vs substrate, casing vs spawning
How do you inoculate your grain?

Thanks. I inoculate horse poo with straw 1:1 just in jars. Than make casing layer (peat based substate for flowers) on it and under it. (but I gonna try your casing layer recipe now, peat+verm with 1 teaspoon of lime, ready to case it right now with tek I usually do but use your casing layer recipe).
Than I let it consolidate for 1-2 days. And put into fruiting chamber with temperature 25-28C
It grows like that

Anybody have a spare print they are confident in that they wouldn't mind sharing? Would be greatly appreciated. Tried a couple different prints..bacterial disaster. Haven't had the pleasure of trying pans yet.

If mine works out I'll get him. I'm also far away but it's the least I could do with "almost" everybody being so friendly lol I'd love to give back to the community.

Looking good Bra, you do have great success there. Your jars look a lot like angams hay manure substrate which he does with jars as well.
Looking at these gorgeous trays in the tub. Have you got a fogger feeding into the tub or anything? I and probably a few other would be interested to hear about your fruiting method.
Thanks for the information, now I know what you are doing, good stuff

Hey Baba, as the pseudo-stones oxidized in room temperature over the last day, they did blue more (it's a deep azure color). The net weight of these shards total was 0.07 grams altogether. They are quite tiny though in size, my above photo was zoomed in quite a bit.

Hello!
I'm about to water my pan bispo tubs that just started pinning. I don't want to mist cuz they might abort. How to I go about watering them using a syringe? Squirt a few ccs along the aides of the tub? How is the technique?
Thank you very much π

I would strongly suggest that you try misting your sub in one corner and see if the pins do abort or not, that way you know whether you can mist or not. Up to you of course.
If you water your surface with a syringe then just apply water close to and around the pins without getting them wet. You can also bottom water your substrate but I (personal opinion) would do this once the fruits are a over two inch big and don't be shy with the amount of water you pouring down the side of your substrate.
Both can work but you have to find out yourself what works best.
Please post a few photos of your project. This way we all get a bit more information about what you do and how it looks. Makes it more interesting too.

Thank you very much!
Hope you can see the teeny tiny pan bispo pins. I want the best for these babies and I'm hesitant to mist them. The syringe watering sounds good. Is the point of misting to keep the casing moist or to keep the substrate underneath moist?
So if I choose to water with syringe, should I water every part of the casing or just the sides and corners?
Thanks so much π
