Hell yeah! Those are beautiful! I’m jelly!
Does anyone have pictures of their bisporus substrate right before casing? I’m having trouble finding pictures of what 100% colonization looks like for bisporus
Is this fully colonized? Start of day 4 after spawning

do those "orbees" or whatever they're called actually work in any meaningful way? it would seem that if the moisture content in your bulk media is correct, that having these covering the surface might just cut down on fruiting surface area. I'm wondering if this is something related to mass psychology and not evidence...but I'm open to just about anything to get some success with this genus.

If they worked better than traditional casing everyone here would be using them

It started as a, for the fuck of it kinda thing. They got mushrooms and now it's thing. You can case with several things but nothing will perform like a traditional casing.

Could someone please advise me as to the best way to transfer Pan spore prints on foil to agar? It seems that they don't like liquid transfer, and scraping them off seems too crude to be the correct method.
I finally got a hold of single prints of two varieties for which I've been searching for more than a year, so don't want to blow it, and am no longer ordering syringes from anybody.
Sorry about the noob question.

Use an inoculation loop tool. You can get one and extra loops on Amazon. Then check out this writeup from c10 on agar. Scroll way down to the section "Working with spores" that shows how to use an Inoculation loop tool to take spores from a print and streak them onto an agar dish.

Yes, I read that, and I understand the concept and reasoning for using a loop and streaking the plate - but these prints from vendors have spores so solidly set on them that I have to struggle to get anything visible off of them with a dry loop. Is there any way of loosening them up with out suspending them in water, or is this what people usually do?

You can also try: print to swab to plates, just remember spores are microscopic so even if you don’t see them with naked eyes, don’t mean there is not enough of them to start something, and finally using less spores for your inoculation is not always that bad as it possibly reduce risk of introducing contam too..

you could dip the loop in a jar of sterilized water to introduce some moisture which will dislodge them easier but you really don't need to see any spores. Less is more in this context.

I always cool my scalpel in the agar so then it's a bit wet and then the spores stick to it easily.

That’s a sexy cake!
18hrs after casing:

I may finally be able to contribute some sexy pan pictures of my own
Note: only this one I have the substrate depth so shallow. The rest are at the 1 cup line approx 1.25”

You don't need to see the spores. Just scraping the print will generally transfer enough to the loop, even if you can't see them with the naked eye. So don't assume it isn't working until you try rubbing it a few times and then swiping your agar with it and don't get any germination. Having said that, most of the time these days I do what Baba suggested which is to dip your loop in sterile water. I have a bunch of little 2ml vials filled with distilled water that I pressure cook and then keep sitting in front of my flow hood. I'll open one and then dip the loop in and then scrape the print.

Is 2 inches a normal height? I kinda thought pans were pretty tall.

Yes that is normal height. Pan Cyans grow taller but Pan Bispos are shorter and fatter:
