Is Bisporus supposed to smell similar to cubensis? It’s definitely NOT cubensis. First time I’ve smelled Bisporus myc

Used a pan cyan ms syringe in several trays. Most trays, the stems bruise easily, even 'bleeding blue' from the cut onto paper towels. There is 1 tray with cyans and the stems do not bruise or lightly bruises after a few minutes. Would that mean it's lower in potency? I have yet to try them but wondered based on others' experiences. If I recall correctly, it's the 2nd flush for that tray.

SilverSumm blueing is not always related to potency for example usually semilanceata doesn’t get blue and by weight are way more potent than blueing cubes. two possibility trying each to compare or dry all, blender then mix all your powders to have an homogeneous result..
Sagescruffy Pan bisporus doesn’t smell as cube for my nose it’s less strong mush smell, like a bit more sweet..

Here’s bisporus 24hrs after spawning

Here’s Panaeolus Cyanescens after 5 days

How close to done are the pan cyans? I’m a little worried since they don’t seem to be having significant growth anymore. Could this just be what they look like at 100%? I literally have no idea
Edit: I finally found some pictures of ppls substrate before they cased. Looks like the substrate does get fully white almost like cubensis

They're called Orbeez. They hold water. People on reddit use them as sort of a casing layer.

Are you using straw pasteurized with lime as your cold method? I keep getting told by people on the "gourmet" mushroom forum that oyster mushrooms are the only genus that will take the high pH, but does it work for preparing straw for pans as well?

Thanks for the input. I see what you’re talking about with the empty zones. My bisporus doesn’t have any empty zones the growth is uniform throughout the entire substrate. Imma start over sighhh but I’ll still cross my fingers for at least one printable fruit from these and they are still progressing albeit slowly. Best case scenario is that I made the substrate a little too wet and it’s slowing them down

The Bisporus have developed their distinctive ring on the cap. The earliest pins are starting to get the wavy cap so I think it's not going to get any taller. The other trays are starting to pin as well.
Is 2 inches a normal height? I kinda thought pans were pretty tall.

Bisporus myc and other Pan myc smells like almond extract, not like cubes at all.

Bisporus in the tray. Is bispo myc extra thin?
I wasn't sure if the grain had colonized after the shake, but it had been nearly 2 weeks, and the grain didn't move when I turned the jars upside down, so I went ahead and spawned it. Looks like it's growing OK so far, 3 days in. Just curious if it's harder to see than other pans. Maybe cuz it was millet and they're similar colors. Is it slower than other pans on grain? I know it's slower to pin, but unsure if that slowness applies more broadly to other stages of cultivation.
Send good vibes my way!

where does the almond smell come from chemically? quite a few species, unrelated to each other, are described to have this smell.
is it because a aroma type of substance, like limonene in cannabis etc?

Probably benzaldehyde or similar? Some exotic Psilocybe are said to smell like cucumber, too.

To me the myc smells like Cocoa beans. Just much more spicy. "Almond extract" is benzaldehyde, and I don't smell that in the myc at all.

Pans like pH 8 and after draining and mixing with manure, it's not super high pH
