So Ive been doing some research on Pan cultivation and most of what Im seeing says to incubate the mycelium at 80F. Is this old info or do I need to make an incubator? I usually keep my room at about 70F.

Thanks Crack. Ratio on this one was around 1:2 - 1:3. I've been mostly eyeballing it lately and I range anywhere from 1:2-1:4. For MS grows I go for around a 2" depth and for clone grows I go for around 3-3.5" depth. The only reason for doing less in MS grows is that I don't want to waste sub on a non-fruiting or poorly fruiting culture. Manure is expensive and difficult for me to get for now so that's why I hate wasting it. I have a wheelbarrow sized pile outside aging and if it ends up working well, I may go 3" on everything. 3" depth corresponds to a 1:4 ratio with 1qt of spawn.

70F worked for me for colonization and also for fruiting, my room fluctuates between 68F and 74F for the most time and only in the mids of summer it goes up to 80F-84F.
72-74F would be ideal IMO.

do you noticed difference in contam rate between low and high temp?
I watched TR Davis video and he says that small shift from 72 to 68F noticeably did a good job for his oyster blocks incubation

I never noticed any correlation between contam rate and temp.

That's good to hear as well. I finally got some good pan growth on agar/moved to grain. Excited to get to sub in the near future. Working on tuning in a jcm chamber for these guys (and my tamps/mexicanas)
Here's a pice of the agar growth of the jambo (received spore from jcm in 2020) and on grain

Long long time lurker... Looking for a little guidance. I did swab to agar now I'm on t3 do any of these plates look viable? Transfer was done on 3/2. I've had some funky looking growth in the plates before these and I have seen where some of the plates you guys show are growing much faster. These are peace river and nec d by the way. Thanks for the help.

Didn’t checked the thread since long, Welcome to the newcomers & some beautiful work done especially hindsight congrats on your cyan and amazing work on the bispo so glad I gave you this prints & see those wonderful bisporus fruits you got indoor!! I read some of you have trouble with straw because of seeds I had relatively good results with hemp straw (no seeds) sold as garden mulch (I tried it because lazy & bored to cut wheat straw to smaller size) Wish everyone a beautiful day!

Thanks again for the prints VL! You may remember, you sent me the Bispos months ago because you thought they would extend my outdoor growing season since they are more cold tolerant than Cyans. My goal was to get some indoor grows done over the winter to get some experience and some clone cultures going and that’s where I am now - clone plate clean transfers are nearly grown out and ready to go to grain and be out outside. Hoping to have outdoor Bispos in April.
I’ll give hemp straw a try if I can get my hands on any!
Thanks again for the prints!

Ah so you also have VL's Bisporus? That's nice! For me it's the best Bisp culture I've had. Thanks VL!

My very slow and lazy efforts to stabilize these genetics is demonstrating some viability. Here is my first F1 fruiting:

It is indeed! Not the fullest flush but I have a couple more trays of it in the tent and am waiting on fruits. I'm just glad to see the color looking the same in F1.

The pins are actually VERY white - almost albino. As they get to be about 1" tall or so, they darken a little bit, and then once they reach full size they lighten back up. I don't think I posted a pin pic of these yet. I'll try to get some pics of pins on the second flush, or from another tub that fruits.
