So why does it make these funny holes? This is pan goliath by the way.
I have made 5 or 6 transfers so far, and I still get this kinda crap. There's no sign of contamination anywhere else in the dish. I'm so frustrated with this. I got this syringe over 3 months ago and I've yet to fruit anything from it.
I'm using a malt extract agar (pre-mixed; just add water and cook). I started out with another recipe that used potato flakes, agar, and honey. Seemed like I got faster growth, or is that just my imagination?
I do have a few more that look better than that, however. Maybe one will "pan" out for me.....

I tend to get the same growth as that sometimes.
Pan mycelium is really weird, they tend to vary a lot from person to person/ grow to grow. I think its due to nutes maybe? Not sure to be honest.
Mine sometimes even bruises to a blue color when it fully colonises the plate, and when transferred it returns back white.
All i can suggest is to keep transferring some more, and transfer what remains in the plate to grain and see what you get out of it.

Yeah that first one has that powdery mold look. I'd expect it to start changing color verry soon.

OK, so I know it's virtually impossible to tell from my crappy pictures, but are any of those three ready to go to grain? Or do I need to transfer again to agar?
I feel like I'm just transferring and transferring and transferring.
