Hi Mycosmith and others - thank you for your insights and advice regarding LCs
In other news... I gave a friend (and some of his friends) some Pan Cyan Bunnell powdered and put in gel caps this past weekend. They took just two gel caps - about 1 gram and they had very strong trips!
I think the first time I try this one I will start with .5 grams.
Angam I see you are not accepting new messages - I hope the spore prints I sent came through to you safe. Stay safe and well (and growing) my Myco Brother!

I always start with half a gram. On good pans, I get a nice trip from just that. I'm not tripping balls but it's also more pleasant to me.

How important is animal manure, or the species of animal manure additive to the agar, grain or coir? Can I use the cow manure in bags at the local store? I don't know any chicken farmers or horse owners.

My local park reserve has horse trails and I little stable area, I just go to the big shit pile and load up a big bucket full. I'm sure a local stable or farmer would be willing to part with some if you ask. For fertilizing your garden of course 😉 I haven't tried with pans but I've used worm castings with cubes.

Hindsight and others - I've lost multiple trays to misting, I don't get why they hate it..
Regarding agar, do pans hate food coloring? My cyans and cincts don't seem to like my grain/hpoo water/activated charcoal mix, they're going slow. Reishi completely colonized within days, cubes and gyms seem to do fine too.

I have had mixed results with charcoal plates. Some myc loves it, others take three transfers to adapt. As far as pans, I've only grown Jambo and Wild Coast on charcoal and both of them seemed neutral about it.

Giggles, what do you mean lost? Trich or aborts.
I haven't got my pans running this season. Past seasons I sprayed all day and bottom watered as much as I could. They don't mind being soaked in my limited experience.

Sorry I meant to say flushes. Maybe certain strains are more susceptible? 🤷♂️ I'm going to try watering with a syringe next go around.

Any special tips for germinating cambos? Dog-food agar isn't doing the trick so far after 12 days, but maybe I should try increasing the water content or smth.

This is second time I cultivate pan cambos - and yes, they hate misting and I ended watering them with a syringe. Also a lot of FAE - just a day without and the stem bases covered with a hairy mycelium and caps looked funky.
As for the food coloring - they don't mind - I always use PDA agar and color it with a blue or green cheap food color and I put a lot, I mean really a lot.
But for some reason they don't like rye grain at all - at least it doesn't work great for me - they colonise it soo slow and so reluctant, its like they eat it just not to die. Last time it took like a month and a half to colonise, and the jars looked so nasty as its not a mycelium inside, but some kind of a mold and a lot of yellow metabolites. After I lost patience at some point, I shaked them and they just looked stalled and would not recover. I almost tought that I should toss them and start over. But. When I mixed these nasty looking jars with aged horse manure (pasteurized) and some verm, this thing resurrected and recovered in just two days and was fully covered with healthy looking mycelium.

Thanks, yep, the trays stay on a soaked perlite layer. I put a piece of kitchen paper/napkin and perlite over it, then I water it. I open the box and wave over it with the cover to exchange the stale air few times a day. Also carefully spray the box walls and the cover, but never directly once the pins appear.

I can't say anything about dog-food agar, but who knows whats in the different brands and batches of that. I always only used plain and simple PDA that I make myself and it works just fine and works also nicely for cubes and some woodlovers.

He may have self banned, I do it from time to time when I need space from all things digital. You can do it with this link

Anecdotally, I grew on manure pellets, they were horrid to work with and the fruit seemed weak compared to the pans I've grown on proper horse manure.
If you want to grow pans I would invest serious effort into tracking down a source of good manure. Try gumtree, ebay, cragslist. I've knocked on doors when I've seen a house with horses before. Got get that real shittttt

Thanks for the suggestion. I see several horse barns on bicycle rides. I will make a cold call with a 2 gallon Ziploc and ask for it for my flower garden.

Totally!
"Hey there, sorry to bother you, but couldn't help noticing your horses! I'm trying to get my roses in order and have been struggling to get hold of good manure! You don't happen to have a muck heap? I'm only after a bag or twos worth."
I'd take a bin bag/rubble sack, just a baggy is a bit bait haha. You don't want to look like a totaly odd ball haha!
If it all works out then bonus points from bringing them a bottle of wine or home made cake when you go to collect. Never hurts!
A common issue I found is that a lot of people I spoke to just have the local farmer come round and collect their fresh manure. Many people don't have the space for a muck heap. But a muck heap is what you want as you can dig around in it and get out the best, drier, seasoned stuff. Fresh stuff isn't super helpful as you need to weather it. (I could be wrong there, would love to know!)

Second flush Bispo in the middle tub coming in. Hoping big enough to clone. Will print them as well. On the right is first flush Bispo on the verm/manure substrate. And you can see just a couple bispo fruits on a third tub there on the far left - don't think that tub will do much:

I keep doing this thing where I have like 3 different varieties/species of mushrooms printing under a tub, and I'm in such a mad rush that I don't put a post-it note or something on the tub thinking "Oh I'll remember" and after I remove the caps and let the prints dry a day, I completely forget what is what and have to toss the whole lot of prints.

That sucks
I'll try germinating the ones I have using a different agar recipe. The spores I have are not even that old so they should be viable
BTW I'm looking to get Pan Cyan spores, if anyone wants to trade, I have these spores to offer
