First plate looks like something, but keep a close eye on this one, mold can be sneaky. Second one I'd toss as mold already started to sporulate.
If things are starting out problematic like this then I would definitely get started with another print as well. You'll might end up with two workable cultures which isn't a bad thing at all.

It's looking like that biggest spot is already turning blue-green. I always let my bad plates go until no doubt remains. Since I use jars instead of petris, I cook them in boiling water or in the microwave before opening them up. I wash and reuse my jars and the plastic lids. (Anyone using jars with metal lids obviously can't use a microwave to kill the mold spores.)

Really? I've nuked plenty of metal lids when making LC and never saw a spark. I know aluminum foil sure will though.

@Baba and Coversall - I think just luck of the draw. All three tubs came from the same spore syringe. I just transferred a handful of cultures to T2 or so and proceeded. One just ended up growing taller and fatter ones than the other. They probably like the tent cycles too - I’m quite happy with how my tent is currently running and also really like using shoeboxes in the tent now instead of shallow trays. It allows for deeper substrates which seems to help the flushed and it seems having some side walls extended a few inches above surface of substrate helps keep a nice microclimate that the fruits love. Only thing I don’t like is that I burn through substrate fast, and I get a lot of tubs that never pin (probably genetics). All part of growing from MS.
I have some Peace River fruiting right now that I’ll post some pics of in another few days. May have more Bisporus too if they finally decide to pin. I got a few decent prints from them as well.

What?! I can't say I would recommend that to anyone. Whether it sparks or not, I'm surprised the microwave still works. I think x-rays are created when microwaves bounce off metal.
I wouldn't trust anything but a pressure canner to sterilize LC, but that's just my opinion.
Hindsight, I can't wait to see your Peace River fruits! That is what I was working on before shutting down for winter, I really wanted to see some before taking a pause from cultivation.

That's not true at all, lol. If it were, people would be dying of radiation poisoning left and right. The entire inside of your microwave is made of metal.

Idk 🤷 that was when I was first starting out and didn't have a pressure cooker. It's a crap microwave. I'd be interested in seeing the science behind the radio waves creating x-rays. I would think the metal inside the microwave would block it. I created plasma several times when microwaving artificial crab meat lol much how a grape will create plasma if nuked. If I remember correctly it has to do with the water content and shape and structure of the grape.

I stand corrected. I thought all metals were a no no in a microwave.

I know pan mycelium can do all sorts of odd things - but, I was getting ready to span this Jambo jar and I noticed a small spot oozing metabolites. It looks a bit like wet bubble to me. Any thoughts?

This is what pan myc does sometimes when you let it sit for a while, it happens quite often when I let tubs consolidate.

Wxorx welcome to the cult. That is a solid flush! Not just for a first grow but period.
PsiloPsychin, I’ve never had pan mycelium do that but it could be the variety you are growing. Mine tends to look less dense. But I would definitely spawn that to bulk in a single tray and see what happens. I posted a pic of a jar a few weeks ago that had these white spots all over it - never seen anything like it before. I almost tossed it but spawned it instead and it’s pushing up a ton of pins now.

It's an oddity but I wouldn't freak out about it. I have never seen "wet bubble" in person, like ever, but I've seen structures similar to it for various reasons.
I also have an announcement that will shock you guys, coming soon.

Thank you Baba Yaga, Hindsight, and Adas for the reassurance. Baba - I can see quite a few of those concentrations with metabolites oozing out on the surface of that tub. Thanks for that picture. On another note… Do either of you use LC or LI for your pans? I’m giving it some thought. I’ve never heard of anyone trying a GLC / GLI but I might give it a shot. (LI from colonized grain jar shaken with sterile water). I’ve been thinking about doing bigger grows of the pans so thinking of ways to get more substrate inoculated …
On yet another note … a Ps. Mexicana (Chicon Nindo) taking up some real estate in my pan fruiting chamber:

Announcement? Shocking Announcement?!

Have you finally been ordained?
Are you a Dad now?
Are you a DEA agent and you’ve finally wrapped up your investigation of the secret Pan Cyan Gang?

Not quite any of that, but to many people it will be just as shocking, if not more. It certainly was shocking to me.

Don't dangle information like that Adas! Looking forward to hearing about it.
Psilo: As for LI/LC, I haven't had much luck with it but I tried it at the very start of my pan growing attempts and was struggling with a number of variables I have since worked out. My grows are all so small that it hasn't made sense for me. By the time I have a clone to work with, I'm already on to the next thing. If you use LC, keep us posted on how it goes.
