Well after an extensive waiting process I wanted to see how this pan bisporus would do. So I made up a plate from spore, transfered once and after clean growth I added the entire plate to a jar of pre-made sub including rye grass seed, vermiculite, cow dung, and some gypsum.
A month later it colonized and then I cased it with sterilized 50 50 verm cactus mix.
Fruiting occurred on day 11, with pins showing up and then maturing by day 16.

That is a very nice and chonky Bisporus! 16 days is a very good time in terms of Bisporus. What were your temps?

Congrats! I have 4 bispo jars that are 95-100% consolidated and will be putting to sub within the next few days. The mycelium is even more light and wispy than pan cyans.

Nice seeing more peeps popping by and sharing photos of their work Sorry to hear that your trays are turning green Psilo*. Any theory why this is happening?
Harvested the first tub of my last pan run for this season. This is the uncased one with full fruiting conditions @ spawn. 310g wet.

Eight more to go before the lab closes down.

Yeah, I am stoked. I thought I was just about to finish my updated write up of how I do tubs but now I'd like to keep going and do more tests with uncased tubs. Would really like to find out if this is repeatable and include it in the update. Unfortunately other things have to get prioritized now....can't wait for the next 7 month to pass.

Baba Yaga — if you don’t mind sharing what was your misting schedule for the uncased tub? Beautiful grow. Can’t wait to try some tubs myself.

And I used sieved bagged compost and coir 50/50 as substrate. Seems like there are no rules . Still thinking that I might got really lucky with the genetics I'm working with, or maybe it's the coir in the substrate. Looks like I'm getting a bit of variety soon so I can actually evaluate the method with other pans when I'm getting back into it

Hey man, this really was an accident, I was playing around with some FAE during fruiting by having a double layer of MP tape over the four bottom holes but I forgot to tape up the two holes at the top which I usually completely close off cause these tubs have a vented lid and didn't notice for 5 days.
The substrate dried out on the surface but a few knots were present. Gave it a fine misting and taped up the top holes as soon as I realized my mistake. A lot more knots turned up the next day and some had morphed into pins, I did nothing but a fine mist or two every day for the first three or four days to keep the fruits moist and once they were like 2" tall and thirsty I removed most of the MP tape on the bottom holes and totally drenched the surface once a day.
I totally winged this one really. This is my fifth year now growing them in tubs so I go a lot by gut feeling and this is all I can tell you. You just have to keep trying if it doesn't work out at first.
To recap this:
- Substrate was sieved bagged compost/coir @ 50/50, overall sub-depth ~2", ~1.5" main sub + ~0.5" top layer.
Compost/Coir substrate:

- Hole setup when starting out was 4 bottoms holes with 2 layers of MP tape and completely open top holes with additional FAE through vented lid.
- After five days top holes were completely taped over. Gave light mist once or twice a day depending on evap.
- Once fruits were ~2" tall bottom holes were set up like this
And I drenched the surface once a day.
- Harvest was after three more days.
And a few photos:

Having said this, half the pins in two three of my tubs have turned blue over night after misting yesterday, that has never happened to this degree before.
Those pans are always good for a surprise....good ones and "oh noooo" ones, lol.

Thank you for the detailed response, Baba Yaga. Looking forward to the updates you’ve got coming and hopefully I’ll be able to try what I have in tubs soon. Cleaning up my first clone to do a test run with.

Temps were 77 to 80 degrees f. Fruiting in an automated chamber with 12 12 lighting and humidity supplied from perlite.
Air circulation running 1 exchange per hour with the aid of a cheap timer
Cubes love these conditions as well and I'm getting both to fruit in those conditions.
I got more Mac Merdin style cased Tupperware cakes going with no pins yet on day 16. The jars seem to do better.
Low yields make me wonder if I should clone a fruit or continue ms grows.... 🤔

Nice to see people still doing jars. It's easy to expand beyond them. I came up with the jar TEK basically to help people go from PF TEK to growing pans without too much difference in growing conditions. Good grow!!!

So the tubs with the aborts are all the same C2T4 clone which also made problems the last time I ran it. Last time it was pinning like crazy but would grow really slow. When I got back tonight new pins were coming up and it started to make very dense clusters again. Will not mist these tubs anymore.
Maybe this one needs a lower spawn ratio or less moisture.
Probably not worthwhile taking prints, it was spawned one day before the one below and growing slow again.
The other clone C1T5 is my favorite so far so I ran it again and it seems to do well.

Will have to go away tomorrow for a couple of days which is good I think, I'm getting to involved with those tubs. Restricted FAE a bit. Hoping for a warm welcome on Sunday morning.

What's up with these dudes?

All twisted and spotted. Could it be because I only used verm this time? Or maybe I added too much lime...

I’ve had some come out like that. As best I could tell it was just genetics but I haven’t grown enough to say that’s it for sure.
