Goddamnit, I just didn't want to spend the money but now it looks like I'm going to have to pull the trigger...awesome haul! Was that just spawned to 100% manure or was it a different substrate?

Based on reading JCM and Asura Pan Teks sub for Pans is 60-70% straw and 40-30% hpoo

My jambos were prob about 4x cube strength.
It felt so weird eating only .6, kept thinking I didn’t take enough until I started seeing some crazy shit.

I bought a tub (maybe you have one already), one aquarium heater for like 15 euros and an air pump (came with air stone) for 15 euros so its pretty cheap. So this is a budget version of the original JCM (only one airstone) but it still worked pretty well . Thanks jcm!

Nice lookin jambos! I figured this would be an appropriate thread to share this. This was my 1st grow from about a year ago. Panaeolus cinctulus "blue pearls/Warren PA" the yield sucked lol but luckily I had some Ban Hua Thanon that fruited around the same time. I'm going to work on cloning some pans soon.

Gorgeous mate! Nice to see something unusual here! Cinctulus was actually my first ever cultivation attempt, haha. I'll never forget that.

Thanks guys. I saved that reddish colored one, hopefully I can isolate that trait, I've only done a couple batches of agar so far.. I collected probably 1 lb. dry weight of local pans this past summer too I'm going to try cloning some soon. Pretty sure it's a mix of cinctulus, olivaceus, and fimicola.

Damn, the pan porn round here is amazing. The mathematical elegance of the gill patterns of pans never ceases to amaze.
For those of you who use sawdust with poo, has anyone tried pasteurizing it with success? (As opposed to sterilizing it.) I'm hypothesizing that gourmet growers sterilize because of high substrate supplementation.

I pasteurize, and it works fine. No reason it shouldn't, the sawdust just gotta be leeched.

Nice, thanks for the help! It never even occurred to me to just find a cheaper air pump than the one JCM uses lol. I'm not always the smartest...I'm excited to get started on some Pans though - I might even put spores to agar tonight!

So this is day 2 of recovery! That was fast. Seems like its ready to case and put into fruiting but I have been waiting 5 days as per the Asure method. The bag I crumbled had been colonizing for 17 days though and I finally picked off the small remainder of uncolonized sub and crumbled it. There was no contamination present though which was surprising.

So should I case it or wait? This is a Nec-D clone in case that matters

Thanks Adas! What do you mean by leaching in this case? Hydrate over field capacity and let it drip in a pillowcase till reaching field capacity?

Depends on the type. Oak needs a lot more leeching. Soak, drain, soak, drain.. needs repeated maybe 4-5 times for it to be usable, and then let it dry to field capacity or below.
It's really a lot of work and I should have switched to coir, but I can't source cheap coir locally and the sawdust bricks are just sooo cheap. Im talking 30€ for 120kg of bricks.
