you got polyfill right. use that as a filter. the foil doesnt help protect much, it just keeps your filter moist. you want dry filters.
4-5 10mm holes sounds like overkill. I use one 7-8mm hole tightly stuffed with poly.
Thanks for advice. I will try that with my jars next time. I was always worry that if I live them without the alufoil they will dry to much. I'm going to fix whole mono after work, including taping the holes.

Hey Mary, I will try and throw up a pic of the old plate and new plate after I get home from work today.
Mostly find it weird because I've made probabaly 6-10 transfers and this is the first time it's happened. Looks like healthy pan myc though. Thick like cambo. I'd be quite surprised if it was a contam.

Here ya go Mary. Some weird orange stuff, must have been sloppy with it. Easy transfer though.
Much thicker. Never seen it look like this before.

Guys im new and have a question. I got my pan cyan colonizing the poo substrate. Question on casing. Do i have to use a casing layer? Will pasteurized 100% coco-peat work? Or do I have to mix it with other things like vermiculite?
Thanks!

You need a casing layer and you can use straight coir

This is how my small tray looks like.

As you can see there is come sort off greying in the centre and some spots with little droplets ( last picture) Should I bin it straight away, wait or case?

Hey, while we're on the topic of Looks No Good, I was wondering: Every time I've grown out pan cyans on whole oats or PDA, it always looks very weak and whispy.. like VERY much so. Is that normal for pans? I've seen this multiple times with different syringes, both from the same company.

Also.. case that thing anyway and see what happens. What's it going to hurt? Nothing and you get to learn some stuff firsthand

Psy...Lol well go ahead and case it but keep a close eye on it...you don't want mold spores in your grow room lol
Space...I too have been dealing with this...my pans are very whispy on PDA and even in the jars of rye berries, they still look like mold to me, I've been told they don't thicken up until they are spawned...

I use mea. Pan bisp always super whispy until that pic a posted. Pan cambo was very thick myc. Pan cyan is less thick, but I wouldn't say whispy either. Maybe switch up your agar if you want.

I've got some powdered MEA at the house. I'll try it out and let y'all know if there's a difference. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah- thats thick for Bis, such variable genetics! Mine doesn't look anything like that. I'm looking forward to hearing how it works for you.
Looks kinda like Goliath or Jam.

For casing I like to use under cooked coir. I get it hot enough to kill mold but the less you cook it the slower it wil colonise.
