20g seems scary. 10 is prob decent 2.5-3g dry grams of normal cubes... extra psilocin remember.

Baba and Bagga, nice grows!

9 grams fresh was fun, but left me wanting more and was over pretty quickly.

15 grams fresh should be fun, yet easily manageable. I would say 20 grams fresh should be reserved for only the bold and experienced.

Bagga, have you tried trays with shorter sides? Those high walls are reducing the mushies access to air exchange and it might even be affecting how the mist falls onto your casing layer and fruits.

Thanks man 👍

I'll aim for 15. I prefer the deeper end of the pool 😉 I've "over shot" on apes before, it was... Unpleasant. Taught me to respect the shrooms, and pans are totally unknown to me.

@ruaw I ended up with these because they were cheap ($2 @target), but you might be right about the airflow/moisture issues. I've cloned a couple of fruits, I'll have to do a side by side to see. Hopefully can get to it before Xmas.

I use composted steer manure and it works great. 50lb for like 3 bucks is so much better than coir, if only it wasn’t so much more work. And stink.

AKA, I personally don't mind the work and the stink of using manure, but I'm lucky enough to have a dedicated oven somewhere other than my kitchen for pasteurizing it. One of my objectives is growing the largest pans I can, so I do whatever it takes.

Welcome razero, I'm looking forward to seeing another member's grow, so I hope you'll have pictures.

Looking good there, Adas. Bisporus is definitely on my want-to-grow-someday list.

I'm going to streak some Peace River Florida spores to agar today. I had difficulty cleaning up PR the last time I tried, so it's time to give it another go.

Nice work Baba! Very impressive any kind of tray, let alone one in a tub!

How much did you end up taking Bagga and how did it go? I had my first pan trip last weekend. I only took 1g dry since I had no idea how hard it would hit and I am pretty sensitive to cubes. It was ok but I definitely didn't think it was 3x the potency of cubes. I wish I had more time that day so I could have taken more. Next time I will probably try 2g dry.

I have a question

I just inoculated some Pan bisporus jars. The substrate is verm/manure/brf/water at a 1:1:1:1 ratio, with a handful of gypsum added in. This is from MacMerdin's pan-cake tek. Half the jars are half-pints, the other half are little 4 oz jars.

My plan is to use the 4oz jars as spawn and spawn them to coir, or maybe a coir/verm mix, all this in a typical tray. Would this work okay? There will still be a good amount of manure from the cakes, so I think that it should work fine but this is my first time with pans.

Never saw pan cakes being spawned to bulk but that doesn't mean it
won't work. I guess you have to try and find out, taking one for the
team so to say.

How are you going to fruit? SGFC?

Edit: I just wouldn't go too crazy with the cake to coir ratio, I don't
know how the cake to bulk guys do it with regular cube cakes to coir
but in this case I myself would start with something around 1:1.

Yeah I have a SGFC. I've spawned cubes to coir at a 1:1 - 1:2 ratio before with success.

I'm wondering if it'd be worth it spawning pans to coir, if it would provide better yields than just fruiting them as cakes. If not then I wouldn't bother. I suppose I'll just  fruit some as cakes and spawn some to coir and see the results.

I have a Presto 23qt PC on the way so soon I won't have to bother with cakes and can finally start doin grains

I think it will work. I don't think Bisporus needs as much FAE as other Pans anyway. I personally always mix my shit with Sawdust which serves a similar purpose to coir in your case, I imagine.

Interesting, what kind of sawdust are you using.
I once tried "PF" cakes with sawdust instead of verm and inoculated
with cube spores. Had germination on 2 out of 10 and it wouldn't grow
well. This was pine sawdust though, like the worst of the worse.

Bisporus is probably the next pan species I'd like to fool around with.

Sorry, I won't be of much help in this respect.
I only ever really grew panaeolus cambodgeniensi thai suphan buri if
what was written on the print was true, so that's how far I got

Want to see how I can improve things with this one first before moving
onto other ones and my gut tells me I should try bisporus next.

Mixed hardwood, but it's mostly Oak. Of course it's leeched very well before use. And pine sawdust for Pans is a complete disaster, yea.

Could someone with a trained eye with these beauties tell me if there is some good pheno in these plates?
