Well i was getting bored of basic names of the species and such so i began to give names my cultures.

I think the first one was pan bisporus which i named Biggie, then this one is called Tupac because it's also a Pan, my multispore tidalwave was called N.W.A from which after 2 transfers i got Eazy-E which is already on grain.

Hey you pans and copes,

I always wing my sub. On the last tray I threw some CVG on top cuz I thought it was a bit wet.
These were cold lime pasteurized if I didn't say.

They all seem to be colonizing well. 2/3 are wetter. Should I dry under flow, add CVG or let it ride.

Lazy pasteurization in PC of a random other manure, hay and cvg sub. Like this batch better.

Saw that Faht had trouble with Micrale Gro Peat moss. I grabbed a bag like 3 months back and was excited to try that instead of jiffy or cacti mix.
Guess I'll give it a whiff he said it was chemically.

rockyfungus: If it seems too wet I'd just remove the lid for a few hours and let evaporate.

My first tray of BVI has fruited. Mediocre fruiting at best. It looks like this would be the start of a nice canopy but I'm already seeing some of the bigger caps dropping spores so this is as big as many of the fruits will get. This was an MS grow though, and I took two big clones.

Guys i checked my notes today and i have to admit i have lied to you.
Biggie isn't my pan bisp culture it was another tidalwave from another round of multispore.

In other news this morning i noticed that my bisp cakes fully colonized so this evening i crumbled them into 4 trays:

I can't wait to fruit them, any advice on bisporus? i've heard they like it wet so my jcm chamber should be their favorite place.

How many flushes should we expect from pans before they get dicey? Been reading mixed opinions.

I ditch cubes after second unless it's an incredibly strong culture.

I just had second flush on my pans, and it seems like there's still more pins coming through. Seems more continuous than cubes.

I don't was to wait for it to contam tho :/

Is this genetic? Were you expecting stubby phenos?

Maybe second flush will come through strong?

I let mine go until they contam or basically stop producing.

I'm currently on the 4th flush on some trays. I haven't been able to get even pinsets, so I've been harvesting roughly half a tray at a time. I leave the others to go for another half day to a full day before they get as big as they can.

I let mine until third "flush" sometimes, and that's already very small fruits generally not worth the effort so I usually ditch it after 2. Also, green sometimes appears after 2nd flush.

Bagga, I never expect anything out of an MS grow with pans. I’ve found that unlike cubes, they seem to be *extremely* variable. I get all kinds of random results with each variety I grow. Kind of makes it all the more exciting really (or disappointing lol).

As for flushes, usually 1-3. I wait until the tray stops producing and or I see green. I had one tray kick up a better second flush than first, and it didn’t stop producing for three or four weeks. That one didn’t have flushes so much as it just kept randomly popping up 5-10 new fruits a day. I just kept harvesting and harvesting. Aside from that anomaly, most trays give 1-3 flushes and even if it’s still producing after that it will be a small amount so I toss the tray to make room for new trays in the tent since tent space is at a premium.

I love the look of those caps, that rugged look is what I want! Amazing work as usual, Jake.

I would be ordering a print except I don't have enough money to buy 2. I just checked, there is a 2 print minimum to order right now. If I can scrape up enough money, this is a great time to order a Nec D print in addition to a Komodo print.

Come on crypto currency, do something! I would love to see it double by this weekend, I would gladly spend it all on prints!

First experimental tub harvested today, this is the one that probably will have the best result and that was fruited closer to what I usually do.
The other ones are not doing that well which was kind of expected but it is interesting to see how and where the substrate is fruiting.

I will do an update for all of them combined once they're done.

So this tub is:

  • Sieved bagged compost / coir @ 50/50
  • Spawn ratio 1:2.5 with 1 quart of oat spawn
  • Substrate thickness 1.5" + 0.5" top layer

  • Temps 70-76oF or 21-25oC
  • Fruited @ spawn / 1 layer of MP-tape over all 4 holes
  • Cased with peat/verm/hydrated lime at full colonization
  • Increased FAE at day of casing, 2 bottom holes not covered, 2 top holes 1 layer of MP-tape.
  • Once pin set was in FAE was decreased by covering half of top hole openings
with masking tape and half of the bottom hole openings with MP.

  • Spawned and fruited on 07 Nov
  • Cased on 13 Nov
  • First pins on 15 Nov
  • Harvest on 20 Nov

  • Generous misting once a day for the first three days of fruiting.

  • Tallest fruits were 5", wet weight 225g.

Thanks bro, yeah pretty stoked, especially with the coir / compost sub, makes prep much easier, might be abandoning manure for a while.

Great work yaga! Your tubs are pretty dang inspiring. I have a green house but it's a pita maintenance wise. Plus I like growing gourmet bottles for food so it's a fight to get room.

I just got some pan cyan "estero" spores and was going to make some pan cakes with coir, verm, brf and composted manure. So hopefully ill have some clone material while I work the culture on agar.

Great grow! Now I’m definitely gonna have to grow some pans.. what kind of compost? Would miracle gro all purpose compost do? And I’m guessing it need pasteurising?

64 qt mono?

Cheers guys, I used a general purpose compost for this tub with added chicken manure according to the list of ingredients, most of it is
composted bark. I screened it through a 3mm mesh to get rid of all the chunky bits which was about half of the volume and added water up to
the point where it's moist but not soggy / clumpy, doing the usual squeeze test for field capacity doesn't really work in this case because of
the texture. Any manure containing compost will do for this I'd say as long as it is well composted and doesn't smell like manure anymore.

I pasteurize just the compost and bucket tek the coir so I don't waste any space and save some energy by not pasteurizing anything that
doesn't need to be.

The tubs I use are 25 and 30 quart.

I don't know if my genetics are working especially well for this as the cambos are the only species I grew so far but a few posts up I linked a
grow by PhosCap where he shows Pan Cyan doing quite well with low-tech fruiting and there are other examples on here as well. I think a lot of
pan varieties should be possible to grow nicely in a tub with some clone selection and a bit of breeding work.

Got my prints of "Free Spore Espania" and they where labeled "Pan Cambo Goliath" aka "Thai Suphan Buri".

Awesome, thanks.

After I posted this I noticed some mysterious bruising in a corner of one tray - on closer inspection there was very very early trich invasion.

Other two are still kicking on ok. This is third flush. I've started "watering" by running the fogger for 30min twice a day to offset the drying I was experiencing. I need a better timer to fix it properly I think.

Planning a trip today with freshies. Still not sure on dosage, wild variance in suggestions on the forums.

Is 15g solid? 20g? I usual trip ape, I like a little punch.

@baba damn! And you don't ever have to sanitize a tent! That's winning.
