Did you pasteurize the poo properly? This seems to be where most people fail. That, and having clean spawn to work with.

I meant a nasty field of trich
I pasteurized the horse shit but I only did a chemical pasteurization of the straw so that's where I messed up I forgot to throw my straw in jars it was just a misplaced memory for some reason or the other ill be giving it another go soon
The spawn was clean it was just a forgotten step that fucked me and fucked me good
I have no more pan cyan though so I'll be. Using my pan cam Goliath on my next go
This second run though I'm going to get a new tub and modify it specifically for pans and cut 6 1 inch holes at 2.25/2.5 inches for the bottom holes and 2 one point five inch holes for the top holes and then I'll skip the straw and use 100 percent hpoo or I'll use a mix of 60/70 horse manure and 40/30 coir along with some gypsum and oyster shell thrown in

Or you could sterilize a Q-tip, and place a drop of the spore solution on the swab, then swipe the dish. That way you can avoid the divot all together..
Your call.
Either way

Interesting..I might do that. I could PC a bunch of Q-tips while loading up some more agar dishes in there as well. Kills two birds with one stone
Do you think 30 minutes in the PC will be enough for both agar/Q-tips? I wanna try to keep my condensation down on this round of pasty's. And I'll be bringing the pressure down very slowly this time.

I do 45 min with my agar and do swabs in a glass jar. 45 min is reg for agar so I just keep them in there for that. You're right, it's a great way to get away with more bang for your buck from a PC cycle.
This thread is awesome FF

15mins is sufficient for swabs, and standard agar media.
Manure/straw/grain water agar needs 25-30min IME

Yeah that's what Pasty recommends for his plates, I try to follow his tek to a T, I don't wanna mess up anything.

Ive also heard 15 minutes was sufficient too, that's why I wanted to be safe and PC for 30 minutes, better to be in the middle.

Even 10 minutes at 15 psi will sterilize agar enough. I do max 20 minutes these days. I don't like caramelizing the media

Guys.
Come on. When you know stuff like that you make a thread on the first page to save Gyo here 25 minutes an agar run , no harm no foul anyway doesn't bother me to leave the extra time.

Noted. I guess my main issue with agar is not the sterilization time, but reducing the amount of condensation on the walls. I'm gonna start using glass dishes (half pint wide mouth) and reduce the pressure slowly after 20 minutes is reached. Hopefully they work this time.

to the 20 min-agar guys -
do you sterilize your plates on a previous cycle? or would the assumption be that 20 min is more than enough time to sterilize glass?

I would think sterilizing agar in a glass jar vs a plastic dish would take the same amount of time, not completely sure tho.
I've seen a lot of people using the half pint wide mouth jars lately, that's what I'll be using (with plastic lids and 1/4" GE hole covered with a piece of SFD).
My PC time will be 20 minutes at 15 psi (along with the Q-tips), then reduce the heat SLOWLY. This should result in very minimal condensation on the sides of the glass jar. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
