Looking good bagga. IIRC our grows are 1-2 days apart.

Mine are coming along too. 7 in the tent, soon to be 8:

I was out of town for 4 days and tried to dial in my tent cycles using an empty tray prior to leaving but it didn't work out and the casings were dried out when I returned yesterday. I misted them back to moist and have adjusted my cycles. It doesn't seem anything was harmed. We will see.

This 8th tray is consolidating much more like what I'm used to seeing around here. This is with the new batch of manure I got. This is 4 days after spawning.

I can't put to words how happy I was to find 5 of my 7 trays showing pins this morning. This is just 4 days after casing and putting into the tent. After my single mini-tray of success followed by nothing but failure after failure, these pinning trays are making me unreasonably happy. Thank you everyone who has given me so much input and help over the past couple of months as I struggled to get here. I still have a ton to learn, and think whoever said pans were "almost as easy as cubes" was a much better grower than me lol. I do think that what I have learned on pans will make me an even better cube grower.... I would bet I got away with a lot of sub-optimal techniques on cubes because of how hardy they are.

Hi JCM good to hear from you, getting back into doing what you love is good medicine :sun:

Update on that tiny tub I posted earlier. Fruits are getting bigger.

Got also more experimental stuff going at the moment while waiting for the clone genetics.

Congrats hindsight!

I'm still waiting on pins... Fingers crossed... and hoping the green fairy and I aren't friends anymore.

Meanwhile, the nats I cased two days later completely consumed it like it was just more sub. Lesson learned, don't bother feeding casing to nats.

growing without manure. [Re: bagga]
    #27529291 - 11/03/21 08:18 PM (2 years, 2 months ago)

Whats everyones thoughts on growing panaeolus cyanescens without manure?  I know some have had success with just CVG and a proper 50/50 casing.  Ive been growing PE for a while now and am trying my hand at growing pan cyans.

The search engine says that just coir or CVG won't give you any mentionable results.

I'm running a couple of small monos with just coir at the moment cause I want to see for myself. Not expecting much though, just playing around.
I will also try compost or compost/coir soon. It seems that all viable substrate options for pans are the ones that require proper pasteurization.

If you don't want to use manure at all then straw based substrates are an option apparently.

Thanks mate, it's working well enough for me and I like to exhaust a method so I'll give it a couple more years before I give in and build
myself a greenhouse which I'll probably end up using exclusively for edibles

Well NecD is the CLEAR standout here. Very impressed by the pinset on some of these trays. All trays shown in the pic are NecD except for the bottom right which is a clone culture of Gulf Coast Florida. The latter looks absolutely pitiful next to NecD, and that's especially notable since Florida is from a clone and NecD are from multispore. I guess that says something to JOC's stabilization efforts.

Still waiting on my one Alabama and Rainbow Eucalyptus trays to pin.

Nice Adas! I think part of my problem with rainbow is that I didn't end up with as many cultures from MS as I did from others. I had some good ones and some bad ones but am down to a couple now. I have two (about to be 3) more grain jars of it on the way and am looking forward to spawning them to trays once fully colonized in another 10ish days. Did you get a lot of fruits from it and were they very large?
