Once I complete this thread, I will be tackling that next. I enjoy all the spinoff tangent threads it takes me on. By the time one reads all those, there really shouldn't be any questions left to ask!
I hope to contribute new ideas or possibilities someday soon.

I swear I did, I'll check it out. I think I have some rye left. I tried Hamhead's milo tek but I think the grain isn't hydrated enough, or the cube culture I put to is was just too tired. It had been sat on agar for months. I'm going to give the tek another with a fresh culture before writing it off.

Jake, some of those Jalisco pins look FAT! On the right hand side of the last picture, is that a single pin, or is it 2 lining up to look like the fattest pan pin I have ever seen?
Love it either way! Your Nec D is first on my list to add to my collection of prints! If that fatty is in fact a single, Jalisco is going on that list too.

Nice multifractal, I'm surprised that no one has grabbed that print yet.
Things around here are getting serious again! My pan cambo spawn is almost ready and I have pasteurized horse manure today. Gonna spawn this soon

The horse manure / straw jars are doing great as well.

Got more LC ready to go to grain but I will need more horse manure, didn't plan ahead early enough Well I got a bag of compost in the shed and might use this for a test run or could try sheep manure pellets. Still can't get myself to pasteurize straw ....anyway, exciting times ahead.

These are P. cambos I got from Angam few months ago. I put them on agar on Jul 13. Should I do a transfer, or can I put directly on grain or hay/manure some clean looking pieces? I can see some spots on the plates #1, #3 and #5 that I am not sure if this is bacterial or something, what would you guys say?

Never use the plates you have inoculated with spores. Transfer at least once, some put their T1 to grain if it looks good just to get some fruits to clone.
Pans are fast moving, taking one or two more transfers won't take that much longer.
There is lots to choose from on plate #3 but the others are showing some clean growth as well.

I hope this is early Pan cambo myc...

All I can do sub wise currently is straw + a some amount (to be tested...) of chicken manure, I need to find a spot to leach hpoo. Right now I'm happy, if I can get a dry gram of pans together.

Wxorx, I recommend streaking spores to agar using a sterile tool, such as a long cotton swab or a sterile bamboo skewer. It will help spread out your colonies and allow you to then transfer from several of the fastest, healthiest colonies you can find.
It works great, I will never put spores to agar any other way now.
I would definitely take transfers to new plates and toss the others. (You could keep one or two for backups, but get used to tossing plates once it is time.)
Look at JCM's write up in his signature for pictures of healthy myc, that's what you want. Avoid anything looking spotty, I think something is hiding there.

BSUUF2,
From what I can see, that looks good. I would transfer from several of your fastest, (largest), colonies and let them grow out on new plates.
I have seen some grows in this thread that didn't use horse or cow poo, not that I recommend it. I have seen success from just straw, & I have seen people add chicken manure, but I don't recall the results. IIRC, they used it very sparingly, like 10% or less.
Do you have a backyard? I leech my hpoo in a spot in my backyard. It simply lies on the ground just like in nature until it's ready to use. (My last batch was already bucket aged for 2 years, but it needed the backyard treatment to make it proper. It spent a total of around 4 months outside, around half of that was winter weather and then spring weather. I estimate that summer months will speed that process up, I will be finding out soon! Note: I am not advocating any bucket aging process. This is insufficient for aging poo, but I included it for information purposes. I have not started with fresh poo, so don't know how long that can take.)

I live in an apartment complex, so no backyard or even balcony. But I think, I have a spot outside where I could dump some horse manure and let it leech for 2-3 months. I'm going to do transfers later, that myc is quick...

I think anywhere that it won't get mowed or trampled on is good, but it should also get the rain and some sun. I occasionally pull the weeds that are growing up through it, but leave some weeds around it to help keep animals and people out of it. Mine is up along a fence so it's not a high traffic area.

Tropicalis
I noticed they dont like too much humidity. They performed better once I let more outside air in the box by raising the lid. Jcm's setup.
