Strange things are happening in the grow room today. I went to harvest the first flush of a test Red Down Under tray in my new semi automated hot box.
Caught me off guard when I pulled this tray out and saw dark grey black on the caps and after checking out the scene underneath looks like we got a whole tray of grey black spored dudes.
I Inoculated the jars for this tray with the Liquid Culture of the pan variety I have come to call RDU after 10+ cakes/trays from 4 separate inoculation times. All from the same LC and all from the same only transfer plate from the same germ plate from the same swab.
Y'all have seen these but the contrast is kinda crazy idk

I pretty much decided this aussie culture was undiagnosed RDU lol. but that's just how the dice been turning up every time. I do have a supossed black spore culture going currently in lc syringes ready to go٫ but I'm not usually that sloppy. Honestly would have been pretty difficult for me to do that with the way I keep em.

Hi y'all
So Ive finally cased my substrate. Cased with 50/50 verm peat + CaCO3. 1/4 inch thick, about 5-6mm
Incubated for 24 hours before fruiting.

This is what it looks like after 24 hours. I'm a bit concerned as the mycelium is starting colonise the casing pretty fast especially the one in the middle
Should i patch those areas where the mycelium are showing up as early as possible?

I don't see why not / I would use it, it all gets pasteurized and should be fine but what is the black stuff in there? Maybe take that out first?

Should be all good to use as is, don't see how 10 yrs of dry storage would do any harm. Just get that moisture content right.

I hate summer.
I finally decided to run pans again and had a beautiful tray of Jambos. I went to case it and the whole surface was squiggling maggots. Idk how flies even found a way into a sealed tub.

I'm done for the summer, this summer is kicking my ass with gnats and mold.
Lost 4 trays of pans. 2 turned triched right as I went to case and the other 2 became so full of gnats, I just bleached the whole fucking room and set off a bug bomb.
Been pondering if the gnat causes mold or vice-versa. Or just the relentlessness of this summer just screws the myc and allows all the nasties to win.

you guys going to let some flies ruin your summer?
AKA (the legend) can you try spraying essential oils around the grow tub? According to googles the bottle fly doesn't like lavender oil.

hang some fly tape. or, im pretty sure they are attracted to fermentation, do this you'll catch nearly 90% of them

Pour some apple cider vinegar or wine in Cup, Syran wrap with elastic around cup. Tip of knife make about 5 small holes in syran wrap. Don't worry they'll find the holes. you don't need to make a hundred holes.

I think they’re mostly gone now, the problem was a couple weeks ago I transplanted a bunch of weed that grows in the same room and the new soil had shitloads of fungus gnats. Between the fly paper and four vinegar traps I easily caught a couple hundred over the past week or so. Only saw one today so I think I finally wiped them out.
The jambos actually still looked so healthy I was tempted to case them anyway but I didn’t want to touch the surface
Guess the pans will be going in a different place from now on.

I do the AscorbTEK if that counts. Just sprinkle some vit. C in the jar instead of lemon juice.

Instead, I recommend a mix of Tampa and Pan! A week ago, I made tea with 2 grams of Tampa and 2 grams of NecD...DMT-nervously smokes on the sidelines... To this day, this mixture still works,I am still under the impression of this flight.Nec D is an unsurpassed Pan!

while I was being indecisive about the test hot box I built٫ and green house ideas. I decided to finish off what I had ready to spawn in dub tubs. I've already ran into problems keeping ideal conditions. A larger space with set parameters is deffinently helpful when raising pans.
After taking over 2 Weeks from spawn 6/7 heres some pan. bisporus
And not too long after the other tray from the same spawn day 6/12 pan. aussie RDU
Hopefully RDU. after that last tray we will have to see. Conditions on both trays not ideal and some parts of sub drier than others. but we will just let this flush ride. Either way I seem to be moving in the right direction on this pan excursion👌

What is this NecD?
I'm going to start up small and run straight pans, cubes will be outdoor only.
