In that case the oyster spores could of gotten in you're substrate soon after pasteurization not when you put the tray in fruiting. They produce a tone of spores... Oysters are agresive but I don't think it's possible for them to take over an a lready colonized substrate. Edit : sorry I'm tired and half asleep... You answered your own question it seems. But something sound off with what happened. Maybe you're spawn wasn't as clean as it should. Doesn't seem right that oyster spores could cake over pan cyan spaw..

So I've got a decent amount of bisporus LC ready to go. I know I've got a few available paths for expansion and I'm trying to do what makes the most sense.
1) LC > Grain > sterilized straw/manure bags > trays 2) LC > sterilized straw/manure/grain bags > trays 3) LC > sterilized straw/manure bags > trays
I'm staying away from expanding into pasteurized sub in open air for now. I will probably also make some pan-cakes since they're simple enough and I've got the stuff ready to go.
Is there any disadvantage to skipping the grain and doing straight straw/manure? I figure this is slightly less prone to contamination without the grain. I did this with shaggy mane and they took a lot longer to colonize than the ones that had grain, but those are generally a lawn mushroom, not a dung mushroom.

Why Are these mush so small short. is this genetics? Im happy for getting a harvest but would be nice to have them 4"+. Is there anything i can do next time? More FAE? There was a point in time where i didn't mist the trays for about 3-4 days, casing was dry.
Pan Cyan Tasmania sub - manure, verm, coir, Gypsum Casing - same as sub Tray - 2" to rim. Some trays are slightly below 2" Humidity - 95% Temp - 78-82 Air exchange. - run four PC fans four times a day

A lot of pans are just tiny but it looks like those got a little too dry which stunted them.
That’s a great first tray though.

Will be better if you replace the coir with straw and you use a proper casing.

4 bags of Panaeolus bisporus inoculated with LC.
Sorta eyeballed, about 30% black Kow cow manure, 60% fine chopped straw, 10% verm. Threw some gypsum in as well. Brought to field capacity. Three of the four bags were then supplemented with about 10-20% boiled oats.

Nice. Bisporus tend to move slover than cyans so don't be alarmed about they're speed. Ime it's worth the wait.

Why is it important for the substrate to be max 2 inches? What happens if its more, say 7 cm like a typical cube sub?
On another note, these are pan tropicalis. They are fast! Not even 1 day after spawning

Nah, I've had 7cm substrates, it's not a problem at all.

Cool bro. Why is straw so important, horse manure already has straw in it why cant it be done with just manure and verm?

It can be. I've never used straw, but ppl seem to swear by it. If it's too much extra work for you, just skip it.

It's about the consistency/airiness as well as the nutrition. All depends on how much grass is in it, and how fluffy the manure is. If it's pasty or muddy, more straw gives it a consistency the myc can colonize better.
