I went across the country to watch the sunset over the mountains. Made for a great hike and the whole thing was exhilarating.
When I got back home, I found something odd with my cambo jars....
After thoroughly inspecting them, the discoloration looks identical to just bruising. But it looks like stones are forming. I'm still trying to find info on what's going on, but just posting this in the meantime.

That jar is either bacterial or it's consolidated (my jars do the same when I leave them a couple days)

Oh, it's fully consolidated. I tried to break up the other two and didn't even bother with this one, they went that well. I'd say they are a few days further along than the last round that I moved to substrate.

Jambo is colonizing the fruiting substrate well, I think. These pics are just under 5 full days after spawning to the bag.
I probably should have cleaned up the sides of the bag so I could see the top better. The myc on top is fluffy and white (first pic, white stuff is the top of the sub). It's a little harder to tell the progress from the side.
What does 100% colonization look like for pans in bags of manure/straw? Are these close?
Don't want to mess up my timing by going to the tray too soon. Thanks!

no that dont sorry that dont even look close really. but its hard to tell by looks in bags sometimes. i tend to judge more so by feel and look combined than just looks. just cuz the top is covered at times dont mean that the sub is colonized throughout the entire sub. i like to see a nice evenly covered block that has a nice firmness to it.
also thats why i spawn my grain to bags instead of just spawning to the trays. its just easier to kno absolutely for sure that the sub is colonized through all the way. that way when u do break it up and lay it to the trays its already completely colonized and its just a matter if allowing it to recover and casing.
too often trays are cased too early just cuz the top looks ready and thats when ul tend to run into problems with time frames and especially overlay.

Thanks for the help! I'll wait until it feels more firm and looks more thickly myceliated all over.

First time growing pans. I think im pushing these jars too far. There is bluing action in this jar. Are they still good? I know pans are more prone to aborts, Just checking to see if they will still fruit. Manure sub ready today.

No I'm saying that jar looks very bacterial and would likely contaminate
You said it is bruising and I think I see a small spot of green. Why would healthy spawn bruise?

Yeah itâs not likely to go well.
Even healthy spawn doesnât work right if you let it sit past 100% for more than a couple days.

I let the jars go too far. the green you see is blue bruising, perhaps it was wanting to fruit.
