And now ladies and gentlemen, it's time to play another game of 'Guess What's Growing in My Pan Tray'
This is supposed to be Pan Cyan Hawaii from a reputable vendor. Agar pin clone > WBS this tray was spawned on 5-2 and was cased on 5-15. Pictures are from today.

lol that’s weird tip. They kinda look like cubes but the myc on the surface looks kind of pan.
I would’ve said the guy mislabeled pes Hawaiian but they look leucistic almost.

Hi guys , so I've got my grains colonized and it kinda looks ready to go

Noticed some very whitish spots on the walls with a hinge of yellowness. Initially suspected it was contams but after observing it a few days. It remained the same

(*Initial plan was straw/manure but only have coir/manure at the moment. Still got more grains colonising for future use*)
Anyway,decided to put it into a substrate mixture consisting of Manure - Coir - Verm (total volume 180mL) 30% - 40% - 30% respectively
There were no blue or green colour that indicates mold
&
While crumbling the grains, I gave it a sniff and it definitely has that distinct mushroom smell and no sweet smells which would indicate bacteria
So just wanna ask, is this a good sign that mycelium will colonized the substrate without any problem?

Two questions:
Can jars of Pan spawn be put in the fridge for later use?
After pasteurizing the casing, do you let it sit for 5 days? Or is it good to use the next day?
Thanks!

Pasteurized casing is good soon as it cools.
I’ve never tried the fridge but pan stuff doesn’t usually keep well.

Should of used more manure and no coir imo. I don't have an answer for your question though... And probably nobody has.

Finally back in business. I think I've been having constant trich for months is because the pasteurization was not right. The oven thermometer was saying 70 for two hours, but I suppose it was not getting the heat to the middle of the bags. I cranked it up to 100 (I think my oven thermometer is still off) and hey presto. Alabama:

I agree it's a cube. Just curious what variety it could be at this point. The only culture I was working with at the time that it could have gotten mixed with is x7x. I guess it's also possible it could be a mislabeled syringe

Got my trays performing much better now٫ harvested the one on the right yesterday. I'm not going to lie to y'all I didn't isolate beyond one transfer from the original germ plate. Honestly wishing I had done more to even out my pinset and size on these. They coming up non stop and inconsistant. still beyond thankful for fruit. but probably gonna ditch the mother LC of this n start new soon really about to commit to the pan life.
This tray has some clusters with a slightly darker cherry red brown(almost purple) spore print. and the under cap is near coffee brown in pictures.
If I am wrong to call these Red Down Under please let me know. just want to keep them seperated from my other aussie genetics٫ and If I were to pass them on.👌

they're slow cause they are not getting proper fae/humidity. u can see that in the watery streaks along the stem and the spiky mycelium at the base of the fruit. If ur setup worked for pans before this may indeed be something different. Try upping the fae they will speed up in no time and the striaetion will clear.

This tray is in a JCM style FC. It uses 4 air pumps and 8 stones. This FC gets tons more FAE than a monotub

I use it too and its the humidity and water vapors coming from the water temp, you get a lot of fae but also tons of water and if that's cubes you are growing, they do not appreciate that a lot. anyway if you leave them like this they will most likely come a bit dwarfed. I had the exact same issue and just raising the lid fixed it. thats only for cubes tho

I came up with the SGFC 2.0 you take a JCM FC and add more SGFC holes on the top 1/4 of the tub. I haven't tested it but I think cubes would love it.

Sounds good. but as JCM said why use pumps for cubes, seems overkill. A dialed in mono is bueno
