if it's wild horses you're not going to find the amount of manure you'll want. They gallop along pooing as they go. $5 at a garden center can get you a nice bag of cow. If there were horse farms I know my man tiptrippy would be in poo heaven.

There was a guy months back doing them outside in a little plastic pool with decent results.
Cool cheers - I’m in the UK, weather is a bit like the Netherlands, I’ve just looked for strains that grow naturally around here and I’ve decided to go for wavy caps.
pan cyans won't grow here, p. cyan might though.

I'll be running the jcm FC
I have horse turds (aged and shredded) Straw (chopped the fuck up with a hedge trimmer) Sub will be mixed 35% turd 65% straw by weight (JOC tek) Peat & Verm (50/50 for casing - JOC tek)
My plan - grow the light/wispy myc on agar -> knock up 1 quart of oats Spawn to 4 quarts pasteurized (and field capacity) poo/straw sub into a lasagna tray Cover and allow to colonize for a week-ish and case (very thin layer) Place into FC and wait
I know this is a very 'crude' writeup, but am I missing anything blatantly obvious? Thanks for all the help! I can't wait to join the ranks

You missed the part you build a small shrine and complete 500 prostrations. You _might_ get away without that step, but something about it doesn't feel right to me.

If you mean they literally gallop as they poo, then yeah. But is that the case? I truly don't know, but it don't sound right lol. Hows does that even work physiologically?
But honestly, like 20-30 horse turds results in 4qt of sub at field capacity after mixed with straw, if that. I can't imagine that'd be hard to find in the wild

Then you have to think about transporting 30 frisbee sized horse turds and bringing them into your home with 2 small children and finding a place to store them. I would love to be able to consider the environment more but sometimes it's slightly unrealistic.

Yo trippy do you have a patio or part of a yard? in Vietnam me and Gump leeched horse on some thin mil plastic kinda tarp style. Can't vouch for what the children will do lol. Once it's cleaned you can store in a cardboard box.
Trippy is like mannn I'm buying cow I have the connect and it stays in the bag all clean!

man honestly putting that into perspective, that does seem a little unrealistic
If it were me I'd probably find somewhere outside closer to the home to store a bunch of shit if that's possible. that'd allow it to age too. if you live in the city that might be near impossible, of course
Idk I take every chance I get to encourage people to help out our earth, and I hope it doesn't get too annoying. Not that I don't contribute to its demise too. It's really fuckin hard not to

Unless you’re running a huge pan operation it’s gotta be way easier to just go to a nursery and pay 5 bucks for 100 pounds of manure compost.
Lol I don’t think I’d ever grow them if I had to drive half an hour to hunt horse shit. Probably once to get a stash. Then I’d be all stingy with them and make people trade me manure patties for a dose.

How does this plate look? First time with Pans. I’ve read that Pan myc can be wispy but I wanted to make sure I got some solid PAN growth here before I transfer.

Randy if I was Jim Lahey I'd say that looks quite whispy randers. Cubes grow rhizomorphic. This plate looks like cotton woot woop.

Which pan is that?
It looks kinda off to me like maybe there’s mold mixed in.
Germ plates usually look wild though so maybe it’ll straighten out.

Yes unfortunately I lost my inoculation loop so I tried to tilt the dish to spread the spores around the plate. I have another plate just like this one where I did not tilt the dish around and it’s got the same wispy growth as this one.

lol tropicals.
I don’t have near as much experience as the other guys here but from what I’ve seen any problem with pans is usually they’re too dry or need higher fae. Or both.
If they’re bruising I’d try to increase humidity first.
That’s kind of the whole trick with pans is to feed them tons of fresh but very humid air.
