Sweet! Those need a bit more work, there's bacteria in them. Look at the wedge it didn't even colonize completely before leaping off.

Alright well i thought they were clean haha...
The wedge is colonized, I think it's just that the myc is so thin and whispy you can see through it..
But your prolly right! Looks like I have more transferring to do..

This is a picture of the cake that was made from MS syringe to agar to cake. It smells "somewhat" bad. Dunked and rolled with 50/50.

This is the cake made from a MS syringe. It smells really bad. I'm sure it is doomed, so I've quarantined it.

So you believe that MS syringe to cake is not a good idea? I think I agree with you. Unfortunately, I think I need to start over with agar and do more transfers to ensure a clean wedge.

Thanks, lol The green square is where I took a transfer to a new dish. The picture was after the transfer.

I'm going back to agar. Should I attempt to take a piece from the contaminated cake, or should I start over with the syringe.

Nice plate, Fox! How does that culture perform? It always pays to get a good culture instead of MS grows that's for sure, especially with pans IME.

It's amazing how much faster pan mycelium is compared to cubes. It does make isolating so much faster. I have never grown the Vietnam substrain before, I would be curious to see um fruit. Nice stuff.

Has anyone successfully grown BRF cakes with pans specifically using a MS syringe? I bought this syringe and every cake I've made grows nice white mycelium and smells like hell when I birth it.
I've started some cultures on agar, and we'll see how that works out. I'm just wondering if anyone ever got anything out of a MS syringe.

I don't think it's common to pull off fruits of of BRF, atleast not impressive flushes...I may be wrong though...Pans like straw or manure based substrates.
Mr Fox mentioned most Pan syringes he's used have been dirty AF...I would trust him...youll do better with agar, but it's still not easy...they are much more challenging then cubes IMO.
