Thanks, guys! All my Pan myc has been super SUPER thick almost like polyfil and I was starting to be under the impression that normal Pan myc was thick like that. Might just throw out all my plates and start over...Iβm sad, super excited about trying to grow these but idk if Iβm ready.

My vote is grow it out anyways and see what happens. It's better to try and fail your first few times than to toss out everything before you even get a chance to fail. At least when you fail you get the first hand experience of what not to do.

With everything in life. Everything is a learning experience and success is nothing without failure to compare it to.

That one looks really weird to me for being a Pan. It shouldn't be that rhizo. Are you sure it's Panaeolus?

Yeah thatβs not pans. Is it by any chance βblue meanieβ.
Iβve never used straw yet and had good results with just compost. I really should get some to try it out though.

I bought a box of horse manure off of ebay and it looked like it was already 80% straw so that's all I used for the sub on my current tray.
I also did Blue Helix's water content calculation this time to make sure the sub was 65% water content recommended for pans. It was wayyy more dry than I'm used to.

Did a three project comparison, all of them from the same spawn source, in monotubs, and at 2 inches deep: 65%straw/35%manure/5%verm VS 35%/65%/5% VS 50%CVG/50%manure..
The one with 50%CVG/50%manure triched out.. and it seems that 65% manure (left one of the pic) is performing a little better than 35% manure, at this in this format (simple monotubs, with no other equipment, just as growing cubes)

Thanks mate! Frankly I did nothing to regulate RH. I'm practicing this way because I want to keep it as simple as possible, with the least space and equipment possible, so as I stated, I used nothing else besides the monotub itself. Ah! For the record, it has holes pastywhyte style:) It's basically BabaYaga style. I just let it colonize for 9 days, cased, left it more more day to colonize and then fruited it (just untaped the holes). In the fruiting stage I just watered it 50ml with a syringe twice per day and thats basically it

Is it time to throw out? Hadn't molded out yet. I'm not able to sustain Any temperature above 25C In my current apartment.
I don't even know what Kind of pans these are, If they are low or high Temp pinners.

It's not dead at all, It had consumed 3 casings, And shows aerial myc or fluffing From time to time
I just want to initiate pinning

Smalltalk I'm really not sure what to tell you brother except try to stick to one of the proven teks as best as you can. Start over and try again. If you must use only verm as a casing then use fine grade verm. Lastly, I could be wrong but I believe all Pan species require high temps. Some Psilocybe species require lower temps and I think you may be getting them confused.
Moopers that plate is beautiful! Well done

Thanks! I can't wait to get it on grain!
Here are germ plates of Panaeolus bisporus on potato dextrose peptone gellan gum. The plates are so clear I thought it would be fun to try. It's a bit softer than agar, so even a light touch dug into the plates a bit, and the spores didn't spread so well. Oh well, lesson learned!
All the pan bisporus colonies look more striated than wispy, and from other pics on here of it (Mary and others), that seems normal? Any of these look particularly suitable for transfer?

I'm also wondering if anyone can confirm that this is Pan Cyan? This is T1 and germination plate:

This jambo clone was spawned on 5/3

These pictures were taken on 5/4

It was cased on 5/6 and left to recover for 24 hours.
Today it was placed in the FC

I'm expecting to see pins by 5/9 and have a mature first flush by 5/11. Spawn to harvest ~ 8 days? Fine by me lol
