Yeah, I can take a picture of the tub. (give me a sec)
But could y'all be alittle more specific? (thought the main post was explanatory enough) I dont mind answering any questions. Just ask a direct/specific quest, rather than generalized quest..

I'm trying to grow this pan species out.:

They were found in a mulched (wood) tree bed.
It's been a tough one.
My original recipe yielded this:

And then they aborted.
I haven't worked with them since but recently tried to put them to a modified H-Poo cake recipe. It's slow going but they are developing. I'll post results if I have any.
In other news....I started to get into the stone makers. I have a jar each of Ps. mexicana (Chicon Nindo), Ps. galindoi (#7), and Ps. tampanensis going and they all have stones forming nicely.

I went back and read the original post I just didn't realize you were doing it the same for all the species

And what was your spawn ratio and colonizing time?
I'm thinking my tub is ready to case and fruit tonight or tomorrow morning but they grow so fast I'm nervous to wait till tomorrow

Im just now beginning to add somewhat of a "twist" to my grow methods. Although, its nothing extravagant.. just experimenting with different grains/manure cakes.
The reason behind adding the 8 holes instead of 6 was because I'm away from home for awhile, usually for 9+hrs. (work as an MA) So the extra holes aid in providing FAE to the tub, while I'm off at work or w/e. Before I head out I just mist my walls, then pull the poly out of one of the top holes.
My spawn/tub ratio is 1:2 usually, but I've gotten away with 1:3. The 1:2 is fully colonized in 6-7 days, while the 1:3 a day late. (5-6days)
If it's 100%, case, & then incubate for 2 days before fruiting.

Sorry dude, totally forgot you had posted a pic of the tub in the OP.
My main question was with that tub you're using. Do you always have the holes higher up on the sides?

I thought holes on a mono had to right at the surface layer to promote optimal FAE. I've seen a lot of different types of mono hole placements, it gets really confusing trying to construct one myself, I don't want to mess it up and waste a tub.

You can always tape the holes so that they don't get used if you don't need it
Wish me luck fellow shroomerites I just cased my P C Jamaica with 50/50 plus +gypsum
We will know soon how she fruits

Yeah, I'll probably just do that. I wanna get it right on the first try tho. Need to invest in a holesaw attachment for the drill I have. I'm getting tired of burning holes in plastic with a small ass tomato paste can

My intentions were for it to be at surface level, but misjudged my sub depth.. Ended up being alil less than anticipated.
You could also go with the standard 6 hole monotub. Which is what I did with the Panaeolus Jamaica.

Cool! This might sound like a noobish question, but how do you make your holes for each mono? I've been burning holes in the plastic with a small tomato paste can The hole size comes out to about 2" in diameter, which I believe is a little too wide.
I would invest in a hole saw attachment for my drill, but I feel like I'll mess it up and fuck up the tub. Should I put a slab of wood underneath when using the hole saw? Can't seem to find a good detailed tek for it.

I'm so stoked to hear that my doc cause that's alline is is a standard doc hole but its on one of my first tubs that I drilled the holes to 2 inches for and its tooicj fresh air fort clay with cubes so it should be perfect for my Jamaican
When I still my holes I just use small bush tees and drill a hole with a drill and then turn the clippers in a circle motion to bore it slowly it's a pain but it's precise

Dremel w/a cutting bit.
The dremel works, but I noticed that the high RPM's tend to throw the hot sticky plastic, and it has hit me in the face before.. now I wear safetey goggles.
Ive heard of others using a soldering iron, if you do make sure you wipe it clean with a WET RAG, right away every time.
Also, avoid using a jigsaw/scroll saw, lol.

i use spade bits. the straight kind, not that bit with the blue coating that is kinda curved (if that makes sense?), they crack the tubs too easily. i pulse the drill first few pulls. then go at it. piece of shitty wood underneath.

You can also tighten your hole saw well, and once you have the pilot bit through, run the drill in reverse. With a little pressure it'll go through without snagging/cracking.
I usually get by running it forward though. Easy duz it.
