Cow manure is fine so long as they are grass fed grain fed cattle do not produce very good manure for growing pans, I primarily use grass fed Cow though. Pete Moss and vermiculite consistently performs better as a casing this has been experimented on by a few of us. you need straw not hay, coir Provides no benefit to pan grows there is no point in adding it

Glad to be back guys. So after another failed attempt of growing pans, I am here to ask a noob question. I know pans are described as smelling as almonds but would you also say there is a grassy smell to them, or a cubensis smell without the heaviness?

My question was if I can just spawn the colonized grain to pasteurized hpoo, let it colonize in fruiting conditions and then case it, or if I need to let the substrate colonize in "colonization conditions" first.

I've sort of lost track of how long it's been.
I've got some jambo pan cakes which will be ready for the FC in a day or two.
And my pan cyan BVI clone LC which I poured over a grainless 50/50 straw/manure mix which looks like it's growing nicely!
I get to shelve the other plates I started up due to limited time and rescoures.
Man I should probably change my password or something right?

No you do not want to let it colonize in fruiting conditions that is just inviting contamination to grab on to your substrate before it has been fully colonized with the pan culture there is no circumstance in which you should colonize in your fruiting chamber you should always lick your mushroom culture take over the substrate in isolated area otherwise you are most likely going to get contaminated

I'm glad to be back here! Very good news today that the site is working again! Raised a clone of Jambo-wildly aggressive mycelium in it.The first growth was small, I will try again... I haven't been on the trip yet...health did not allow it...I hope to try it this weekend.

Welcome back Shroomery, yay!
I think I know the answer ("Start over"), but wanted to ask anyway. Based on advice here, I took some transfers from a Jambo germ plate. I came back from a vacation, and where they looked normal before, those transfer plates look like this now. I assume I should not put these to grain?

They're yellowed, fluffy, and showing metabs.
The original plate shows more of the same:

I have one plate that looks OK color wise but is furrowed. Again: good to put to grain, or toss?

I do have one germ plate that shows pinning or pseudosclerotia. See below. Am I correct, or is this just mold? Would it be wise to transfer from those spots?

Thanks, as always, for helping a new pan grower.

Beautiful grows as always Angam!
Moopers, the only plate I would even bother with is 4th one. Take a xfer from the whitest and thickest part around 10oclock but a little towards the center there. Just scrape off the tiniest little sliver of tissue from the top there

i am following your tek because it stupid simple and less chance of messing it up
1. i got the cow manure its from grass feed cows
2. is millet a good grain for pan cyan spawn?
3. this from your tek substrate part
60% chopped straw 35% cow poop 5% verm total 100% substrate
i can not find straw what else can i use?
also if you can send me name of peat moss you use, cause in my country there are about 5 different kind of peat moss and i have no idea which one to buy
this is my first time with pan cyan and its not scary anymore.

ya covers the texas sadly didnt work out the way i had hoped😟
i didnt take many pucs as they werent worth the effort at all. 3 of the cultures i had off that print were the wild pubic hair lookin type 😂😂 then the other 2 were better but well below average size. so il b movin onto somethin else next. im thinkn of bustin out my jambos just to get a solid grow to replenish my supply a bit but if u have a different print from those texans and wnna trade id b willing to give them another go and c if i can get somethin good outta them cuz if i had to judge from the print i have id say the print isnt genetically good just cuz i ran 5 sepperate cultures taken from 5 sepperate areas off that print

Oh shit they are noodlely! Yeah I'll send you another print or two. But what I also might do is run them again and see if I can make fresh prints off more select fruit. I'm going to be putting your jambos to fruit in the next couple of days I think! Pretty excited.
