Thanks Jake. If I get some clean growth on the oats, is it worth pulling a grain and retrying that way?
And as for the agar I already put some spores on, I'm just gonna try to grab some myc that out runs the bacteria right?
Last time I did agar, I ended up neglecting them because I had way too many mushrooms and was kinda done growing. It was interesting to see the plates that started out bacterial ended up getting swamped over with mycelium if you left them long enough.

Not gonna lie there's a nagging little thought at the back of my mind these might be a contaminant mushroom. The myc on the plate I used to make the LC def looked like pan myc, the cakes I crumbled smelled unmistakably like pans too and when pins started to pop up they looked like legit pan pins to me.
Does this happen often?
Hey Josex,
I had a similar experience with Ps Subaeruginosa. Everything looked normal and I was over the moon. They were exposed to the outdoors so I wanted to see them print and nada. The gills had a similar look:
Grow and picked fruit.

Anyway, thought I'd share, I know it's not a Pan but it relates to your Pan grow and might add confidence. Something squirmy about eating any mushroom when anything seems just a touch off.
Btw, your biopsy method rocks. I've been successful with clean Pan LC, and now Libs and Atl#7. Super thankful for that writeup.

Recipe: 250 ml wheat water + 5 gr agar + 5 gr dextrose? Is this ok?
another questions is, I did no-pour PDA agar and I inoculation cube and pan cyan spores to plates. Cube spores had germination but Pan Cyan spores hadn't. Room temp was 18-22 °C
What was the problem?
What do you guys think?
This should work although I’ve never used this recipe, for stubborn pan spores I like to use peptone. Sugar and starch total should not exceed 8% but if you use peptone count it for double the weight of other sugars.

CFL jar didn't seem to recover too great from shaking 7 days ago, hopefully I'm just used to cubes
Thinking it's ready to spawn though so I'll be doing that later on today. No bags so I'll just be going straight to a few trays with 1:4

That jar looks a little bacterial to me. Also, I think the general consensus is to not shake pan jars but I may be wrong on that. Hope it works out for you! I've got a few cube projects to finish up before I jump into pans

Thanks bigfoot I hope it works out too
Hmm what makes you think bacterial? The donor plate was definitely clean. As far as shaking, I think it's fine for pans

The fact that it looks like my jars excess moisture, a couple areas where there's thick/heavy looking myc next to the wispy myc and how some of the grains look smooshed up against the glass.
Take my opinion with a grain of sand though. I'm still a complete noob trying to figure this out. I learn a lot by saying dumb stuff and getting corrected by people who know what the hell they're talking about so I'd wait for someone else to chime in

I don't know my arse from my elbow when it comes to pans but the creepy uncle speaks truth about wet looking grains pressed up against the jar. Normally and indictates bacterial presence.

My pan test jars are nearing completion

I'm getting a 50$ mister/fogger unit, because unlike cubes, pans need both high Fae and very high humidity at the same time?

Josex, I also came across this recently when I grew out a wild print. I was pretty surprised, but folks here tell me that it is not unheard of to come across sporeless pans. I've kept the culture because I think it looks really cool, and the indigo staining on the white fruit bodies/gills is really beautiful. I can see sparse black spores on the gills with a hand lens. Haven't sampled them, but I imagine they don't lack for potency.

^^^^That's awesome Excited to see the results of you cloning those josex
...
Well damn I sure hope you guys don't know what you're talking about lol just kiddin but seriously. If it's bacterial idk where I went wrong. I had a clean plate and the grain looked good before shaking. Never had a grain jar go bacterial before.
gettin ready to spawn it right now. I usually trust my nose a lot so we'll see how my kitchen smells in about 15 minutes
Edit: spawned
Well honestly, the spawn smelled great. Hopefully the over-prepped rye was all that was causing them sticking to the jar. But the sub kinda smelled like shit. My room mate walked in while I was mixing it. He said it didn't smell like shit but like wet dirt on the side of a river lol. I'm thinking I should have just bought some cow dung from lowes my hpoo was definitely too fresh
Low expectations for this CFL dish but it was a learning experience and I'll be streaking some Nec D later on tonight

Bisporus...cased at the same time as estero. Estero already flushed, while the bisp hasn't even pinned.
