How hard is it to grow pans without a proper setup? My cubes have to be misted daily in shoeboxes, apparently not so ideal for pans. Same with the 19-24 degrees celcius temp range. Best I could do is wait for summer to hit and leave them in my little veranda (if that's the right word). If I put my mobile AC on, I could let it blow cool air through the door inside my room and have all the hot, humid stuff in my little veranda. That way I could grow copes without making my room a furnace (students housing).
A veranda (Google translated) is a room with a door inbetween. I have a 21m2 room, but about 5m2 is separated by a door. It's too cold there now (no isolation), so my cubes have to grow in my room. But that 5m2 it will be hot and humid as hell once summer hits and the AC goes on in there, circulating even more hot and humid air inside.

My syringes finally showed up and I knocked up 7 oat jars with two of each except pan bisp where I only did one, hopefully something will be successful. Keeping it at 75 in the room, that ok?
Was curious about if anybody has tried any methods to make going from syringe to agar more successful? Was thinking about using a sterile swab and doing some kind of swipe which would lessen how much excess water ends up on the agar and might give a better environment for some myc to catch hold and get away from bacteria before doing the transfer?
I'll switch to prints after this but I had already ordered them so...

It never crossed my mind but I didn't expect pan primordia to be white. I suppose it makes sense, myc is white.
I've got loads of little white clusters like the one circled below

Very nice! That's what I hoped my BVI would look like! Maybe my clone will give better results.

It's possible people have succeded but many have also failed, try it and see if it works out for you!

Syringe to grain isn' recommended with any species, less so with pans. But it could well pan (har har) out ok.
I've never gone syringe to agar, but if I did I would do the following:
- Flame the needle
- Squirt the syringe in the SAB to break the pressure
- Let a drop gather on the end of the needle
- Drop it on one side of the plate
- Flame a loop
- Cool it in the agar
- Then streak the drop in a zig zag

I grew something, I believe they're pans lol They look sporeless to me, maybe albino? Some pics of the trays the day I harvested and a couple pics of pins when they started to pop up.

Not gonna lie there's a nagging little thought at the back of my mind these might be a contaminant mushroom. The myc on the plate I used to make the LC def looked like pan myc, the cakes I crumbled smelled unmistakably like pans too and when pins started to pop up they looked like legit pan pins to me.
Does this happen often?

They blue too (or rather, turn very dark) after being harvested, don't know if this tells us much. This is a fruit I intentionally left for 24hrs after plucking it. I'm not entirely sure I should eat these

Thank you, I appreciate it. Thats interesting everyone says that about syringe to grain. I've had a lot of success with cubes going syringe to grain.
I have those grain jars going and I just did the agar. Just kinda hoping I can figure out how to get a clean culture of each of these going somehow. Might take a little bit and some innovation but I refuse to believe that with all of these spores I won't be able to get anything.

Syringes only exist so they can be injected into brf jars. There is no other reason for making them (other than the fact vendors love promoting them cuz you get more sales per spore drop (1 print can make several ss’s and they all sell for about the same). If you are versed in agar in makes Absolutely no sense to get syringes you are just unnecessarily adding water as a potential vector for contamination. spores are inherently dirty bacteria can even live inside of them them so the li used to make them will never be fully sterile. Now with pans I really don’t recommend ss’s I’ve never done pan cakes but I’d imagine if you directly hit them with a ss they would be bacterial. If you already have pan ss’s and wanna try and make em work drop the nutritional profile of your agar down really low (1-2%) it will increase you chances of a healthy transfer out
