Central Florida                  Wild Coast

Both of these were knocked up 8 days ago. I'm thinking the WC is a worthless culture, and not too sure about this CFL either. They seem slow compared what I've been reading here. People talking about fully colonized in 6-8 days w/ no shaking. Any input?

Very rarely do you get a culture that can move that fast. Don't worry. The CFL looks fantastic! Not sure about the WC.

That cfl is the type of growth you’re after, wild coast not so much.

Just to repeat what they’ve already said, I rarely get super fast cultures on grain. They’ll take a couple weeks but then once I spawn them they’re lightning quick through the tub.

OK so there's a huge amount of variation in what it'll look like.
I saw the last 3 in your write up but thought they were from after casing. I thought I spotted verm in them

Thanks dude

Hell yeah thanks for the feedback guys. I'm excited now, gonna order up some hpoo and straw today. But yeah this WC culture I've been uncertain about ever since T1 so I'm not surprised

Edit:
Well, SHIT. Nothing on amazon will show up soon enough. Where are you guys getting yours from?
I'm calling around to local ranches, but something tells me theirs won't be aged and dried

I’m not sure if this is going to be amazing or horribly mutated.

Kinda looking like the pan version of enigma.

I did have it flooded for a day and a half when I first set the fc back up so that could be it.

So I've had very little luck taking spore syringes to agar, but had rarely ever had issues going straight to grain (mainly talking about spore syringes that I made).  What is the reason that syringes are considered dirtier than prints?  Its the same steps except with the added sterile water/syringe part, correct?  I've never had just a print.

I had trouble getting my pan syringe going on agar. I put a drop or two on the same plate 3 or 4 times and got nothing, so it was clean, but no spores. I could see a few clumps of spores floating, but they must have all been in those clumps rather than spread throughout.

I finally had some luck when I let the syringe sit upright for awhile, the spore clumps sank to the bottom and where they landed on the plate is exactly where I saw germination.

The other way I've done syringe to agar was to put a 1-2ml of the solution into a sterilized container, I use a shot glass, and then use sterile swabs to streak from that. This avoids the puddle problem when the syringe suddenly spurts out more than you intended.

So the things I need to go from clean spawn to fruit would be:

Hpoo or cow poo + straw 50/50

Casing of peat moss and vermiculite 50/50 (after the tub has consolidated).

Keep everything fucking wet af.

Sorry, trying to toss this together today because the jars are done, and I read a lot about how these enjoy momentum.

Ime during colonization everything should be a bit under field capacity.  A couple of days after casing you water the casing and keep it wet.
