Bummer man...What seems to be the key to preventing the overlay issue with Pans?

Perhaps deeper casing and more FAE? I don't see what else could be done. Maybe one of the pros will chime in.
I had a feeling I should have cased it deeper. Oh well...
I just want like a gram out of this and a print or two and I will be happy.

I've been wondering this too.
Anyone know? I am about to start my first pans soon, and have them on agar. I was thinking of tightly dialed at spawning, thick peat casing (1/2" or so) at 100%, then really opening her up. Anyone know if that might help? I'm also thinking of trying a grow in one of Bodhi's unmodded tubs.
I guess i'll just let you good folks know how it goes

Keep your casing at a dusting about 1/2"
You need to increase your FAE. Once it starts pinning it'll stop consuming the casing.

Just for making a note, how many days consolidation time did you give them?
Peacefrog mentions giving them 3-6 days before casing to help with this problem in this grow log:

Like a day or two. I had read you dont want to consolidate pans and many other exotics. Perhaps that is not true either. Like someone said earlier, I don't believe much from older posts. Lots of it is wrong...
May try that next time.

half inch? damn that's thick.. I thought you wanted a thin one for some odd reason... what's your take on the consolidation before casing?

You do want a thin casing, I meant to say 1/2" MAX!
I've never consolidated my pans. Always fruited at 100% colonization. I don't see how it could be detrimental, just never needed to. The mushrooms are quite small so they don't need tht much nutes to fruit in abundance. Also, pans give multiple flushes up to 4-5.. maybe more but I only have experience with 5 flushes on my old Pan Jam trays.

Thank you! Such great info, so FAE is the biggest trigger for Pans

I was given a wild Pan. cyan. print from the U.S. Virgin Islands. Hoping to stabilize it over a few generations.
Just took some transfers, these are the second transfer from MS.

Sorry for the noob question, but does this look okay? It looks like enmeshed mold, but all my 1st transfers from MS inoculations look kinda like this. I'm not seeing any satellites, so… is this good?

ugh, not the best pics. I'll try again in the morning. This is just 2 days after transfer

Very nice I like your system! I've only been using PDA with green for everything lol.
I've been following the thread for awhile as well, I have three jars with Pan Cambo colonizing, but I'm gonna grain to grain the best one to expand it to a full size mono and fruit the other two in minis. But I have several out her varieties on agar right now as well!
But it's been working for everything, even the Ps.Caerulipes I'm working with right now, and they are a secondary decomposer of beech wood, haha.
