Thanks for the reply Jake. I use 50/50 poo/straw and 50/50 peat/verm. I keep temps at 80F in the jcm style FC with air pumps set to max flow 24/7.
I will try cranking the temp up a little. Also I wonder if my lighting is insufficient? I'm using 2 long LED strips that are bright as hell

No you problem isn’t your lighting, what’s your manure like? Manure quality makes a HUGE difference also and will also determine the amount of straw and verm to cut in

I’ve never had problems with pinning but sometimes if it was taking a while I’d crank the fog way up for 8-12 hours and really soak everything. Then turn it back to where it was and it almost always explodes with pins.
The idea was to mimic a rainstorm which is when you usually see shrooms popping up.

I like using fog just for humidity and not relying on it for casing moisture at all. I have no problems misting/hand watering every day and prefer it because I know I am getting evap off the surface. But hey, if it works it works.

I’ve never actually tried misting or hand watering past a couple days after casing.
One of my favorite things about pans is they’re completely automated, at most I’ll take a peek and turn a dial 1/8”.
The cycle timers are crazy. Idk how but they seem to never run out of power even unplugged for weeks.

Jambos were super easy to pin for me. I threw some grain in a tiny cup and left it out and it overlayed like an inch deep and then sprouted pins all over it lol.
Definitely a good one to start with.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'll have to get me some peat and straw then.
Don't know if it is acceptable for the substrate to shrink for almost 2 inches, but I guess I do have to crank it up for more than 2 mists a day. As A.k.a said, mimic a rainstorm...

Dear friends,
please help me with my pan cyan grow. I have experience with lots of cubensis strains but pan cyan Jamaican is a mess. I simply cannot make them grow more exactly to fruit. I have no issue with contams but the tomentose is killing me, crazy overlay which seems to be unstoppable. So, I had a multispore vial bought from the Netherlands, made a lot of LCs from agar with little isolation and got healthy vigorous LCs. My patience is over now because I'm struggling with this since over an year, to inoculate h.poo + rye and make them fruit in semi bulk (bigger plastic case filled 1/4 with water and trays inside). Now, I'm planning to isolate a few pure strains and make LCs and redo from scratch for THE LAST TIME the whole process plus I'm switching to cow manure.
With the last batch of spawn it happened something very strange which didn't happen with the others before probably because this time I decided to pick a different LC jar with different characteristics from the others before. I use for the spawn plastic bags that can be sterilized and for pan cyan I sterilize the rye with h.poo in bags. I made 5 bags and after inoculation left for approx. 4 weeks for colonization. These 5 bags started to form primordia clusters but in a very incipient form right on the spots where the rye + h.poo got wet right after injecting them with LC. It was like they were trying to poke through the plastic and I was 100% convinced that it will work this time but it didn't. I haven't seen with cubes such thing, they simply put out a shroom or two at maximum but you won't see such swollen formations under the plastic like I saw with this pan jam strain. I know, I had to open up the bags right above those formations, lay a thin casing layer and put them in the fruiting chamber and CLONE those bastards! That will be my last chance but now I would like to proceed with isolations.
I would like to know how many isolations are required, more or less in order to have a pure strain? maybe 10 -12? and how does a pure Pan Cyan Jamaican look like? When do I need to stop with the isolation? when the tips of the hyphae are perfectly aligned? How long are the aerial hyphae? Could someone please share some photos of a pure pan cyan Jamaican strain, 3-4 days old from a mother culture? or explain in few word?
The problem is that I just cannot purchase spores, clones, etc. and if it's not working this time, I won't bother with pan cyan ever again. I had also a Hawaiian mycelium vial but it was dead from start.
Thank you in advance!
