Nice, man I'm envious of the snow. We had a nice dump last weekend, but it lasted, oh, say ~48 hours. Then back to being shin deep in fucking mud again.

It’s weird here. Only had a couple snowfalls and some weird af high temps. The first snow was 27” but we barely seen 6” since then and lots has melted. It’s super strange this year.

Still thinking it's mold? So strange looking...almost looks like my lion's mane that started fruiting on grain.

I get myc that does that on the plate sometimes. Idk if it’s bacteria or too dry or what.

Did you try fruiting it? The bag is puffed out, so I think the gas exchange is hosed.

No I never touched anything that looked like that on plates.
I’m pretty sure something causes it because I’ve had a few cases where normal looking myc suddenly turned into that stuff. It almost looks like the colony melted when it happens.
My necd lc is about ready to go. First time making one for pans so I might try out the all in one bags too this time.

I am trying to dial in the JOC grow tent type set up. I have the fan running and humidifier, but I am having trouble with it being either too warm or too damp. 1min humidifier + 15min fan is way too try. I've tried 5min fan and 2min dehumidifier, also too dry. 2min fan 2min mister is wayyyy too wet. there wasn't a puddle in the tray but the whole thing was damp, like it had just been dunked and drained for a 2nd flush level of damp. Right now am running some cube trays at 8min dehumidifier, and then it's off for 45min, with an fan very gently moving air down through the tent. The bottom two shelves look okay, but could be a little bit wetter, the top shelf is way too dry and I'm barely getting fruits around the outside of the tray.
Any suggestions? how wet should the substrate+spawn stay when Pans are put into fruiting conditions? I don't really want to run pans and then ruin them, because I can't pasteurize horse poop in my apartment, so I'm buying it from outgrow (50/50 straw pasteurized poop combo). Shit is expensive when you don't pasteurize it yourself.

Excellent. I can do that.
I think I am a bit confused about ideal surface conditions for pans. I see 90-95% humidity is good, but my trays are way to wet at that humidity, unless they prefer to be damp.

They love to be wet. As far as I can tell they can’t get too wet, worst case you just dial it down and let them dry out some.
I had trouble with that part coming from cubes. You want pans wet enough that if they were cubes they’d be covered in pock marks and bacteria.
My wild coast tub I accidentally half flooded and I’m pretty sure some pinned and grew from a puddle.
So yeah crank the fog

Okay awesome. That's really helpful to know and makes this way easier.
I know this is a very noobish question, but when measuring out spawn 1:4, do you use 4x the size of the jar, or 4x the amount of spawn, because the spawn jars are only 3/5 full.

It doesn’t really matter either work. Pans do ok with less spawn though. I usually make 2 or 3 pan shoeboxes from a quart of spawn.

I revived a pan Vietnam print from 2009 an original from Stonesun. My plan is to make maybe 50 ml of LC and run a couple pan cakes as not to stress an already stressed culture and send it into suicide mode. We shall see if my skills are enough for this.

If they can stay this wet, why do they abort if you mist them? The ones in your pic their caps are glistening from water, i cant imagine a misting session doing anything worse in terms of standing water and glistening.

You can mist them as long as they are in a wet/moist environment. If they dry and have water on them they will abort.
