I found it interesting that mutation was seen throughout the whole grow sporadically. I used the same liquid culture for all of it. Could anyone weigh in on genetics here? I took a spore print to agar and agar wedge to liquid culture. Would it be possible to isolate that mutation so that every fruit would be conjoined?

I don't see much from Goliath grows. Is this variety or strain particularly finicky in your experience? I would expect tons of Goliath grows considering the general diminutive stature of Pans but I haven't seen pics of many canopies from such genetics.

Fantastic Mr. Fox: Do you have a link to the RGS Tek you mention? Searching I found a few RGS soak teks but none where you just load the grains/water and PC.

I vaguely remember such a tek for rye from years ago but it must not be that great or surely it would be more popular. I'm all for making my processes quicker and simpler--I've started using eatyualive's oat prep tek with good luck and haven't looked back

Thanks everyone, I finally made it through the whole thread, I feel like I have a pretty good Pan education in progress and I learned a ton about agar too!

I've been seeing that with my Jamaican lately. I get overlay from grows of Jamaican that have  been started from agar plates that have been sitting in the fridge too long or have been passaged on agar a lot.
The mycelia grows aggressively thru the sub then colonizes the case (but not in 2 days!) and refuses to fruit.

I'm currently doing a cased grain experiment (no substrate) with a clone of Jamaican that has been passaged on agar 9X. Not optimistic cuz the environmental conditions here aren't good right now.

Seems like the sub came out a bit dry after pasteurization. Hopefully it will be alright. It should colonize really fast, based on how these Pan cambo act on grain. Once it colonizes, then maybe I can bottom water.

I don't have a link but its..
》1 1/2 cup of RGS
》1/2 cup of coffee water

For Oats it's..
》1 3/4 cup Dry Oats
》3/4 cup coffee water

Add a pinch of gypsum shake, soak for an hour, shake again and PC for 90mins. (RGS only needs 60mins)

(Mycelium grows best in acidic PH of 5-6 so use a ph meter to check the waters ph after adding the coffee add water if need be)

Thanks, do you think it will still pin if I increase FAE?

You should get some, next time wait till the casing is about 20% colonized.

Well despite a lot of overlay, I increased fae and kept it moist. I am happy to report I have pins! This thread has been a huge help.

I will for sure! I'll probably post a pic first thing in the morning because I've seen 4 more pins come out of the overlay since my last post lol

What kind of spawn ratio do you guys like for Pans? Since they like to go multiple flushes, I figured a lower ratio would make sense so I went with 1:4.  With cubes I usually go 1:2 or 1:1.

Well then. I only have one quart of spawn so it was kind of irrelevant.

Next time I will do a higher ratio.

Thanks fox

No problem bro!
You should still get a nice yeild.

More spawn means more fruits tho Which is crucial since they're so small..
In my old tubs I did nothing shy of 6 quarts.
6quarts to 13qts sub
